This pivotal role is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of our accounting systems and financial records, ensuring the utmost accuracy and integrity in all financial reporting. You will be instrumental in maintaining meticulous accounting schedules, guaranteeing strict adherence to all applicable accounting standards, and providing essential support for tax filings and annual audits. We are looking for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses a strong ability to work independently, and has a demonstrable track record of significantly improving accounting operations through the continuous pursuit of better tools and processes. If you are naturally curious, proactive in exploring innovative solutions, and committed to leveraging AI for enhanced efficiency, you will find SimSpace to be an ideal environment to grow your career.
- • As the Controller, you will be the primary owner of the monthly close process, meticulously managing all aspects within NetSuite. This includes a thorough review of all monthly journal entries pertaining to revenue, expenses, and balance sheet accounts, ensuring they accurately reflect the company's financial position. You will also be responsible for reviewing offline close schedules prepared in Excel, verifying their accuracy and completeness. A critical part of your role will involve reviewing account reconciliations, identifying and making necessary adjustments to maintain financial statement integrity. Your diligent oversight will ensure the accuracy and reliability of our financial statements, providing a solid foundation for strategic decision-making.
- • You will oversee the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions, ensuring that all payables are processed efficiently and invoices are managed in a timely manner. This includes verifying that all relevant financial activity is accurately captured and recorded within NetSuite, maintaining a clear and organized financial workflow. Your leadership in these areas will contribute to the company's operational efficiency and financial health.
- • A significant responsibility will be supporting annual corporate tax filings, ensuring all necessary documentation and information are prepared accurately and submitted on time. Furthermore, you will be responsible for completing monthly and quarterly sales tax filings, navigating complex tax regulations to ensure compliance. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting our annual audit, working collaboratively with internal teams and external auditors to facilitate a smooth and efficient audit process.
- • You will manage the outsourced accounting operations based in Costa Rica, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring seamless integration with our global financial operations. This involves coordinating with our external technical accounting advisors, tax team, and auditors, fostering strong working relationships and facilitating clear communication to achieve optimal outcomes.
- • A key aspect of this role is to actively support and implement process improvement and automation projects. You will identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and leverage technology, including AI, to streamline accounting functions. Working closely with leadership, you will play a vital role in establishing and implementing robust internal controls that safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Your proactive approach to process optimization will be essential in scaling our finance operations effectively.
- • This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will manage a team of two direct reports: a Senior Accountant and an Accountant. You will foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to your direct reports. Your leadership will be instrumental in developing a strong finance team capable of meeting the company's evolving needs.
- • SimSpace is committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning, curiosity, and professional growth. We believe that people are at the center of everything we do. This commitment is reflected in our in-house training programs, access to internal and external learning platforms, opportunities to attend cyber conferences and industry events, and dedicated time for skill development.
