Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Fractional Controller at Panoptyc, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in strengthening the financial foundation of a fast-growing, mission-driven company revolutionizing retail loss prevention through visual AI and manual review systems. This role is critical to ensuring financial integrity, audit readiness, and scalable operations as the company prepares for a full NetSuite implementation and eventual transition to full-time employment.
  • • You will own the end-to-end monthly close process, drive accurate and timely financial reporting, and lead efforts to build audit-ready controls and documentation — all while partnering closely with the VP of Finance and supporting distributed accounting teams across onshore and offshore locations.
  • • Panoptyc is a fully remote, rapidly growing company leveraging cutting-edge AI to detect theft in over 15,000 U.S. markets, serving clients ranging from local businesses to Fortune 500 retailers. The finance function is central to scaling operations with precision and compliance, making this role a strategic lever in the company’s growth trajectory.
  • • You will gain deep exposure to NetSuite implementation, AI-enabled financial workflows, and multi-revenue-stream accounting (SaaS, hardware, and services), positioning you to lead complex financial transformations in high-growth tech environments.
  • • Drive the monthly close calendar, checklist, cutoffs, and review cadence to deliver clean financial statements with clear variance and flux analysis, continuously improving close speed and accuracy without compromising controls.
  • • Lead monthly reconciliations across bank/credit card, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, inventory, and deferred revenue; maintain audit-ready support schedules, surface issues early, and ensure clear ownership and resolution timelines.
  • • Strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation standards; maintain PBC-ready schedules and support external CPAs and tax teams to position the company for future audits with confidence.
  • • Partner on NetSuite implementation by supporting chart of accounts and segment design, approvals, workflows, roles, permissions, and reporting structure — bringing a controls-first mindset to every system and process decision.
  • • Manage onshore and offshore accounting resources by establishing SOPs, SLAs, and QA standards; identify and onboard additional offshore support as needed to scale capacity efficiently.
  • • Implement AI-enabled workflows to assist with exception detection, reconciliation support, close package drafting, and documentation indexing — always maintaining human review, accountability, and strong control standards.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Proven Controller or Assistant Controller experience with full ownership of the monthly close and financial reporting process
  • • Required NetSuite experience, with implementation experience strongly preferred
  • • Strong GAAP foundation and demonstrated experience supporting external CPA and tax teams during audits
  • • Experience leading distributed and offshore accounting teams with established SOPs, SLAs, and quality assurance practices
  • • High standards for process, controls, documentation, and follow-through, with comfort working remotely and flexing hours during close and cutover periods

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Fractional W-2 role starting at 20–26 hours per week with a clear path to full-time conversion targeted around September 2026 (timing may shift but intended to become full-time for the right person)
  • • Fully remote position requiring availability during U.S. Eastern Time zone hours
  • • Opportunity to work with innovative AI-driven financial tools and help shape the future of automated accounting workflows in a high-growth tech environment
