- • Design, build, and maintain core platform systems that enable seamless execution of ML-powered algorithms across mobile and cloud environments for millions of Oura Ring users.
- • Ensure high reliability, compute efficiency, and low-latency performance of algorithmic features running on iOS and Android devices as well as in the AWS cloud.
- • Develop and improve developer tooling and workflows to simplify implementation, testing, validation, and release of algorithm-heavy features without requiring deep backend expertise from feature teams.
- • Architect and optimize dataflow systems that synchronize TBs to PBs of user health data between mobile apps and cloud infrastructure with strict consistency, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- • Enforce standardized data schemas, data quality controls, and lifecycle management policies across all data pipelines to ensure compliance and integrity.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to empower them to build end-to-end features independently by providing robust, self-service platform abstractions.
- • Work across mobile (Swift, Kotlin, C++) and backend (Python, Rust, AWS) platforms to deliver cohesive solutions that span device and cloud.
- • Profile and optimize high-performance code at both application and systems levels, addressing concurrency, crash resilience, and memory efficiency.
- • Contribute to the design and maintenance of distributed systems handling massive scale, including data consistency, fault tolerance, and event-driven processing.
- • Apply knowledge of databases (SQLite, Realm, PostgreSQL, MySQL) for schema design, query optimization, and efficient data storage on mobile and server-side.
- • Leverage exposure to PyTorch and ML operations to support algorithm deployment and monitoring, though model training is outside the team’s scope.
- • Drive technical ownership of projects from conception through delivery with minimal guidance, prioritizing impact and product value.
- • Write high-quality, maintainable code rapidly and effectively, with or without AI-assisted tooling, demonstrating prolific programming ability.
- • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly in writing and speech to align engineering teams and promote best practices.
- • Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges in a fast-growing health technology environment.

- • Previous experience solving challenging technical problems in high-scale, mission-critical systems
- • Broad knowledge of software fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, concurrency, databases, testing, and system/API design
- • Ability to take ownership of projects, design technical solutions, and deliver results with limited guidance
