- • The Cost Accounting Manager at NETGEAR, Inc. plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy and operational efficiency by owning end-to-end cost accounting activities while serving as a strategic partner in financial planning, forecasting, and decision support. This position bridges accounting integrity with business performance, directly impacting product costing, inventory valuation, margin reporting, and cross-functional initiatives that drive profitability and strategic agility.
- • Day to day, the role involves owning the cost accounting function including standard costing, inventory valuation, and COGS reporting in compliance with company policy and accounting standards; managing month-end close activities related to inventory, COGS, cost allocations, accruals, reserves, and production variances to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting; leading cost roll-ups, bills of material (BOM) costing, routings/labor and overhead rates, and aligning costing models with operational reality; analyzing and explaining cost variances (purchase price, usage, yield, labor, overhead absorption) and driving corrective actions with Operations and Supply Chain teams; partnering with Operations to improve inventory controls, cycle counts, physical inventory processes, and obsolete/slow-moving inventory analysis and reserve methodology; ensuring accuracy of inventory transactions and costing in Oracle ERP, including troubleshooting and root-cause resolution; supporting internal and external audits through documentation, schedules, and responses to audit inquiries; identifying and implementing process improvements to strengthen controls, automate reporting, and enhance data quality; leading or co-leading the budgeting and forecasting process for COGS, inventory, and operational spend, collaborating with business leaders to align assumptions and key drivers; producing monthly financial performance packages including margin bridges, variance-to-plan, and forward-looking risk/opportunity assessments; and tracking and reporting key KPIs such as gross margin, inventory turns, purchase price variance (PPV), material yield, and overhead absorption, providing actionable recommendations to improve business outcomes.

- • In this role, the individual will deepen expertise in complex cost accounting within a global hardware and technology environment, develop leadership and influence by partnering with senior business leaders on forecasting and strategic planning, gain advanced experience in ERP systems (Oracle) and BI tools, and contribute to process modernization and control enhancement initiatives. The position offers a clear path to grow into broader finance leadership roles while making a tangible impact on NETGEAR’s financial health, product profitability, and long-term competitiveness in the connectivity market.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- • 6+ years of progressive finance experience with strong cost accounting exposure in manufacturing, distribution, hardware, CPG, or complex inventory environments.
- • Demonstrated experience with standard costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and leading budgeting/forecasting processes that deliver FP&A insights to business partners.
