  • • Join Twilio Inc. as our next Counsel, Commercial, a pivotal role designed to support our rapidly expanding Go-to-Market Sales team. This position is crucial for managing the full lifecycle of complex enterprise sales deals, ensuring legal compliance, and fostering strong partnerships across the organization.
  • • As a key member of the commercial legal team, you will be instrumental in enabling Twilio's continued growth by providing expert legal counsel and strategic support to our enterprise sales force.
  • • You will take full ownership of the review, negotiation, and drafting of a wide array of legal agreements. This includes, but is not limited to, Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Professional Services Agreements (PSAs), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), and other critical commercial contracts that underpin our business relationships.
  • • A core responsibility will be to advise Twilio's internal clients on contract interpretation, negotiation strategies, and potential legal risks. Your ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice for non-legal stakeholders will be paramount.
  • • You will act as a champion for Twilio's mission, ethics, and integrity. This involves ensuring that all contractual activities and advice align with Twilio's compliance policies, protecting the company from undue risk, and adhering to all applicable local laws and regulations, all while staying true to Twilio's core values.

  • • The ability to manage a heavy workflow is critical. You will need to effectively triage incoming requests, set appropriate expectations with internal clients regarding timelines, and consistently deliver high-quality results in a timely and efficient manner.
  • • This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, fast-paced technology company that is revolutionizing the communications landscape. You will be part of a globally distributed, remote-first team that values inclusion and collaboration.
  • • You will work closely with sales, product, and other internal teams to understand business objectives and translate them into legally sound and commercially viable agreements.
  • • Proactively identify potential legal issues and develop strategies to mitigate risks associated with new products, services, and business initiatives.
  • • Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes, playbooks, and standard contract templates to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • • Stay abreast of relevant legal and regulatory developments impacting the technology and communications industries, particularly in areas relevant to SaaS and cloud-based services.
  • • This role is ideal for a lawyer who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys tackling complex challenges, and is passionate about supporting a high-growth sales organization.
  • • You will be empowered to make a tangible impact, directly contributing to the success of Twilio's commercial endeavors and reinforcing the company's reputation for excellence and integrity.
  • • The remote-first nature of this role, based in Ontario, British Columbia, or Alberta, Canada, offers flexibility while maintaining strong team connections and opportunities for occasional travel to foster relationships and participate in key meetings.
