• • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Counsel, Commercial (Institutional Legal) to join our dynamic U.S. Institutional Legal team, focusing on U.S. markets and professional trading clients.
• • This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge blockchain technology and traditional finance, shaping the legal landscape for innovative institutional products.
• • You will be instrumental in negotiating groundbreaking, bespoke agreements with strategic partners and sophisticated counterparties within the finance, payments, and digital currency sectors.
• • Provide comprehensive legal counsel throughout the entire product lifecycle for a diverse range of global prime brokerage, custody, and derivatives-related products.
• • Offer practical advice on complex legal issues, intricate agreement structures, and company policies within a risk-tolerant yet compliance-focused environment.
• • Proactively monitor and advise on the evolving legal and regulatory landscape surrounding digital currencies and blockchain technology.
• • Lead and actively participate in complex, global, cross-functional initiatives, ensuring seamless alignment with key stakeholders including Institutional Sales, Business Development, Product/Engineering, Finance/Tax, and Compliance teams.
• • Foster strong collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams and legal colleagues to effectively problem-solve, build strategic partnerships, and expedite deal closures.
• • Serve as a proactive business partner, anticipating and resolving challenges as the business executes an aggressive global growth plan.
• • Develop scaled strategies for managing risk in a business-centric manner, creating commercial processes that empower the business with flexibility and speed.
• • "Look around corners" to creatively identify and address potential legal and commercial hurdles, supporting the business in planning, building, and executing its transactional and product roadmap.
• • Embrace a "business partner, not just a lawyer" mentality, deeply understanding the business objectives and contributing to strategic decision-making.
• • Engage with a small, highly experienced team of lawyers possessing a blend of traditional finance and fintech expertise, reporting directly to the head of the Institutional Legal team.
• • The role encompasses a broad spectrum of institutional products, including prime brokerage, exchange, trading, custody, derivatives, and financing products.
• • We are looking for an individual with robust experience in product development, regulatory matters, and negotiation, ideally gained within traditional prime brokerage, securities financing, and/or derivatives sectors.
• • A strong sense of curiosity, adaptability, and a pioneering spirit are essential, coupled with a genuine desire to make a significant impact in the rapidly evolving crypto and traditional global markets.
• • This position is based in the U.S. and operates in a remote-first environment, though in-person participation is expected for multiple annual team and company-wide offsites to foster collaboration and alignment.
