• • Clipboard Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced Counsel, Legislation and Government Relations to join our growing, mission-driven company. This pivotal role is designed for an individual with a profound understanding of state and federal legislative processes and a proven track record of engaging with legislators and executive agencies to shape policy and regulatory outcomes. You will be instrumental in advancing new policy ideas, navigating complex regulatory landscapes, and advising a fast-paced, rapidly scaling business on critical legal and government relations matters.
• • As a key member of our legal team, you will proactively identify legislative and regulatory objectives across various states, working closely with state and federal lobbyists to draft and advocate for proposed legislation and regulations. Your ability to forge and manage coalitions with diverse stakeholders who share our vision for legislative and regulatory change will be crucial to our success.
• • You will be responsible for meticulously monitoring all relevant state and federal legislative and regulatory developments, ensuring the company remains ahead of evolving legal requirements and industry trends. This includes conducting thorough risk analyses of compliance, quantifying potential financial impacts of non-compliance, and collaborating closely with internal business teams, including Product, Sales, and People Operations, to implement necessary legislative and regulatory changes effectively.
• • Beyond government relations, this role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive legal advice to business teams on a wide array of issues. You will prepare detailed responses to regulator inquiries, manage contracts with outside counsel to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery of services, and lead external relations campaigns to engage stakeholders on advocacy issues that directly impact the business.
• • A significant aspect of this role involves cross-functional collaboration to identify, investigate, and manage risks across the entire organization. You will analyze and guide the company on evolving rules, regulations, compliance requirements, and emerging trends specifically impacting the technology and healthcare industries. Furthermore, you will manage a diverse portfolio of legal matters, encompassing areas such as human resources, independent contractor classification, and state registration requirements.
• • Success in the first 90 days will involve developing and executing government relations plans in at least two new states or implementing two new outreach strategies. You will also establish and refine the company’s legislative and regulatory monitoring system, sharing key insights and trends in an accessible format for both the legal team and business partners. Contributing to the drafting and updating of company policies and improving cross-functional processes will also be key achievements, alongside integrating into and supporting at least one workstream outside of traditional government relations.
