  • • As the Country Director for Canada at Coinbase, you will be at the forefront of shaping and executing our strategic vision within one of the world's most dynamic and rapidly evolving markets. This pivotal role demands a visionary leader who can drive overall business performance, foster significant user growth, and solidify Coinbase's long-term market position in Canada. You will be the architect of our Canadian strategy, identifying and capitalizing on high-impact growth opportunities by deeply understanding market trends, regulatory landscapes, and competitive dynamics.
  • • Your responsibilities will span across multiple critical functions, requiring a blend of strategic foresight and hands-on execution. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to ensure our offerings are not only innovative but also perfectly tailored to the Canadian market, meeting local needs while adhering to stringent regulatory requirements. This involves ensuring strong product-market fit and driving the successful launch of locally relevant products.
  • • A significant aspect of this role involves leading cross-functional execution in partnership with Marketing, Business Development, Legal, Compliance, and Policy teams. You will orchestrate complex initiatives, ensuring they are delivered with speed and precision, aligning local efforts with global objectives.
  • • You will play a senior leadership role in navigating the complex Canadian regulatory and policy environment. This includes engaging proactively with regulators and policymakers to unlock new product opportunities and ensure continuous compliance, thereby safeguarding Coinbase's operations and reputation.
  • • Building and nurturing a high-performing local team is paramount. You will be responsible for hiring, developing, and mentoring talent, instilling Coinbase's core mission, values, and operating standards to create a cohesive and effective unit. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • • As a senior representative of Coinbase in Canada, you will engage with a wide array of stakeholders, including regulators, key partners, clients, media, and industry forums. Your ability to articulate Coinbase's vision and value proposition will be crucial in building strong relationships and enhancing our brand presence.
  • • You will act as a vital conduit between the Canadian operations and global teams, ensuring seamless alignment with global priorities while effectively advocating for the unique needs and opportunities within the Canadian market. This requires exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • • Clear, credible, and compelling communication with executives and cross-functional leaders is essential. You will be expected to synthesize complex issues, derive actionable insights, and drive informed decision-making processes.
  • • The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of how regulated financial institutions operate across various functions, including Compliance, Risk, Finance, Treasury, Audit, and third-party oversight. This comprehensive knowledge is critical for navigating the Canadian financial services ecosystem.
  • • You will be comfortable operating within a remote-first, globally matrixed organization, adept at balancing local execution with global standards and ensuring consistency in our approach.
  • • A highly pragmatic and solutions-oriented mindset, coupled with a strong bias for action and a commitment to continuous improvement, will be key to success in this fast-paced environment.
  • • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English are non-negotiable, enabling you to influence senior stakeholders and external audiences effectively.
  • • You must be a structured, analytical problem-solver, capable of navigating ambiguity and making sound decisions even with imperfect information. Your ability to break down complex challenges and develop strategic solutions will be highly valued.
  • • A genuine and strong interest in crypto and blockchain technology is essential. While prior expertise is helpful, a profound curiosity and conviction about the future of this space are required to drive innovation and growth.
  • • You will be instrumental in driving Coinbase's mission to increase economic freedom in the world by expanding our presence and impact within Canada, contributing to the development of the future global financial system.
