📋 Description

  • • Overhaul Jerry’s entire customer communications strategy by transforming transactional, functional messaging (email, SMS, in-app, push notifications) into empathetic, relationship-driven copy that builds trust and emotional connection around the stressful, often dry topics of car insurance, maintenance, and repairs.
  • • Define and own Jerry’s brand voice from the ground up, establishing a consistent, human tone across all organic customer touchpoints without inheriting an existing playbook — partnering directly with the CEO to shape personality, values, and linguistic style.
  • • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Growth, and Customer Insights teams to deeply understand user pain points, behavioral data, and emotional triggers, then translate those insights into copy that drives engagement, retention, and long-term loyalty.
  • • Lead the redesign of lifecycle communication flows to shift from purely transactional prompts (e.g., ‘click here to renew’) to value-additive, care-driven narratives that position Jerry as a trusted partner in car ownership — not just a service provider.
  • • Craft and optimize high-impact messaging for critical customer moments, including policy renewals, claims guidance, maintenance reminders, and feature launches — ensuring every word reduces anxiety and increases perceived care.
  • • Expand scope beyond CRM channels as the brand voice solidifies, taking ownership of organic growth initiatives through social media, community engagement (e.g., Reddit), and other non-paid content platforms to cultivate brand affinity and community.
  • • Champion the unmeasurable value of brand experience against data-first culture, pushing back on purely metric-driven decisions with empathetic, qualitative reasoning rooted in user research and behavioral psychology.
  • • Conduct continuous testing and iteration of copy variants, measuring impact on open rates, click-throughs, retention, NPS, and customer sentiment — using both quantitative data and qualitative feedback to refine messaging.
  • • Serve as the sole creative lead for all customer-facing written content, acting as an individual contributor with no direct reports but with enterprise-wide influence over how Jerry speaks to its 5M+ users.
  • • Balance the need for clarity and compliance in insurance-related communications with creativity and emotional resonance, ensuring legal accuracy without sacrificing human connection.
  • • Translate complex financial and operational topics (loans, coverage changes, repair costs) into simple, accessible language that empowers customers rather than overwhelms them.
  • • Build and maintain a living brand voice document that evolves with user feedback, company growth, and market shifts, becoming the authoritative source for all Jerry communication standards.
  • • Represent Jerry’s voice in external community spaces, including moderating or contributing to customer-led discussions on platforms like Reddit to ensure brand authenticity and responsiveness.
  • • Anticipate emerging customer concerns and proactively develop messaging frameworks before issues escalate — turning potential complaints into opportunities for trust-building.
  • • Work within the constraints of a fast-paced startup environment, iterating rapidly while maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and emotional intelligence in every piece of copy.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years of experience in creative marketing with a focus on organic growth and copywriting
  • • Proven track record managing email, SMS, and social media content for consumer brands
  • • Portfolio showcasing writing and creative craft for complex, low-engagement topics
  • • Bachelor’s Degree
  • • Experience thriving in fast-growing startups with data-driven cultures
  • • Ability to translate qualitative user insights into resonant, empathetic messaging
