- • Prototype experimental AI interfaces that move beyond standard chat-based UIs to explore novel interaction models for proactive AI systems.
- • Build functional proof-of-concept experiences using web technologies, AI models, APIs, and frontend tools to test interaction hypotheses quickly.
- • Investigate how users understand, direct, and collaborate with AI systems through novel interfaces involving human control, trust, transparency, memory, and multimodal input.
- • Test and evaluate interaction patterns for long-running workflows, persistent context, and reliable task completion in real-world usage scenarios.
- • Collaborate closely with product, design, and machine learning teams to translate early-stage ideas into testable prototypes within short timeframes.
- • Identify and adapt useful Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) patterns from academic research, existing products, and emerging tools to inform A1’s product direction.
- • Document all experiments rigorously: clearly articulate what was tested, what outcomes were observed, what failed, and what should be built or explored next.
- • Contribute to shaping the team’s collective understanding of what HCI should look and feel like in a consumer-facing AI application.
- • Balance creativity with practicality by judging which experimental ideas have genuine user value versus those that are merely novel or technically interesting.
- • Work in a high-talent-density, fast-moving environment where independent judgment, structure, and execution are required to ship high-quality work.
- • Operate comfortably in ambiguity during early-stage product exploration, where requirements are undefined and success is measured by learning and iteration.
- • Communicate experimental findings clearly to cross-functional teams to influence product decisions and align on next steps.
- • Engage with emerging AI capabilities and limitations to inform realistic and effective interaction design.
- • Participate in virtual and/or onsite interviews as part of a streamlined evaluation process focused on technical skill and mindset fit.

- • Experience prototyping at the intersection of design and technology, such as in creative technology, design engineering, prototyping, or R&D roles.
- • Ability to build functional prototypes using web technologies, APIs, or AI tools.
- • Curiosity about how AI systems work and how users form mental models of AI behavior.
- • Comfort moving between design thinking and hands-on building.
- • Awareness of HCI principles, emerging UI patterns, and the limitations of current AI systems.
- • Strong communication skills to clearly explain experimental ideas and prototype findings.
