- • The Credentialing Specialist at Vision Service Plan plays a critical role in ensuring healthcare providers meet all regulatory and organizational standards to participate in the VSP network, directly supporting patient access to quality vision care.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with providers, retail chains, and strategic partners; gathering and verifying required documentation for initial and ongoing credentialing; managing provider files in the CVO partner’s system; tracking file progress; identifying and resolving missing documents; and ensuring compliance with state regulations.
- • The specialist researches and resolves complex credentialing issues, escalates when necessary, coordinates with internal and external partners, and prepares clear, complete submissions for the Credentialing Committee to support timely decision-making.
- • They also compile information for legal and dispute resolution processes, exercise independent judgment in data entry and maintenance, ensure provider data integrity, and serve as an internal resource for business partners while aligning with VSP’s strategic goals.
- • The role requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills to balance provider needs with corporate objectives, uphold compliance standards, and contribute to network integrity and growth.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or 4 years of equivalent functional experience
- • Demonstrated experience working directly with providers and staff on credentialing policies and procedures
- • Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking, organizational skills, and customer service abilities
- • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in managing credentialing files and resolving complex issues
- • Proven communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills with experience handling escalated situations
- • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
