- • As a Customer Success Manager at Cohere Inc. in Berlin, you will serve as the trusted advisor and strategic partner for German federal ministries, state authorities, defence organizations, and critical infrastructure providers, guiding them through the secure adoption of frontier AI solutions in highly regulated environments. Your work will directly contribute to Cohere’s mission of scaling intelligence to serve humanity by ensuring that AI technologies deliver measurable public sector impact while meeting stringent German security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
- • You will own the end-to-end success, adoption, and growth of Cohere’s German public sector and defence accounts, building deep relationships with senior stakeholders such as Bundesminister, Staatssekretäre, CIOs, and digital transformation leads. This includes developing tailored success plans aligned with organizational missions, budget cycles (Haushaltsplan), and digital strategies, while serving as the primary executive sponsor and escalation point to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term value realization.
- • Day to day, you will lead secure AI implementation projects in complex environments including air-gapped systems, VS-NfD (Verschlusssachen - nur für den Dienstgebrauch) settings, and on-premises deployments, navigating legacy integrations, data sensitivity, lengthy Vergabeverfahren processes, and risk-averse organizational cultures. You will conduct regular executive business reviews to demonstrate ROI, drive change management for user adoption across diverse government workforces, and identify opportunities for contract renewals and account expansion.
- • You will act as the voice of the German public sector within Cohere, providing strategic feedback to Product and Engineering teams on requirements related to security, explainability, accessibility, German language support, and ethical AI. This includes contributing to the development of government-specific offerings, implementation playbooks, and best practices, while representing Cohere at German government forums, working groups (Arbeitsgruppen), and industry events to shape go-to-market strategy.
- • You will collaborate closely with Cohere’s Strategic Customer team, Applied ML Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE), Platform, Product, and Go-to-Market teams, ensuring alignment between customer needs and internal capabilities. This role offers the unique opportunity to influence how Germany’s most critical institutions leverage AI to serve the public good, combining technical insight with deep public sector acumen to drive responsible innovation.
- • In this role, you will develop expertise in navigating German public sector procurement under Vergaberecht, gain hands-on experience with frameworks like BDSG, GDPR, BSI-G, TTDSG, NIS2, and Algorithmic Impact Assessments, and deepen your understanding of national cloud strategies such as Deutschland Cloud and BSI standards. You will also build leadership experience in managing multi-year, multi-stakeholder technology transformations in high-security environments, positioning yourself as a specialist in AI adoption for defence and public safety contexts.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience in customer success, account management, strategic consulting, or technology delivery within enterprise or German government contexts
- • At least 3-5 years working directly with German federal ministries, state authorities, or defence organizations in technology, digital transformation, or consulting roles
- • Active Streng Geheim (Top Secret) security clearance (mandatory)
- • Fluent German language proficiency—essential for working across the German public sector
- • Proven track record managing complex, strategic accounts with multiple stakeholders, long sales cycles, and multi-year implementation timelines
- • Experience leading AI/ML, cloud, or enterprise software implementations in secure or highly regulated environments
