- • The Customer Technical Services Representative serves as a scientific and technical expert supporting food manufacturers in packaging performance, food safety, and quality assurance, playing a critical role in ensuring product integrity and customer satisfaction.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include partnering with customers and internal plant teams to evaluate container performance in food applications, investigating and resolving product performance concerns through root cause analysis and lab testing, leading packaging trials for food compatibility and regulatory compliance, supporting new product launches, and providing technical education on metal food packaging and food safety standards.
- • Silgan Containers is America’s largest metal food packaging producer, committed to sustainability, food safety, and innovation, partnering with leading food brands to deliver high-performance packaging solutions through a science-driven, collaborative culture.
- • In this role, the individual will deepen expertise in food science and packaging technology, develop client-facing technical consulting skills, contribute to continuous improvement in food safety and sustainability, and gain hands-on experience in product validation and regulatory compliance within a major industrial manufacturing environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Packaging Science, or related scientific discipline
- • Strong understanding of food processing, thermal processing, microbiological principles, food safety systems such as HACCP, and regulatory standards
- • Experience in food manufacturing, food quality assurance, R&D, or technical service within a food or packaging environment preferred
- • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret laboratory data and production results
- • Excellent communication skills to translate scientific findings into practical solutions for customers
- • Willingness to travel domestically up to 25 percent annually
