- • Locate and mark underground utilities, including fiber optic cables, using electrical, magnetic, GPS, blueprint analysis, and radar techniques to prevent damage during excavation and construction.
- • Analyze blueprints and site plans to determine the precise location of upcoming construction projects and potential utility conflicts.
- • Identify and map the depth and alignment of Zayo’s underground infrastructure to ensure accurate utility marking with paint and flags.
- • Document all site interactions, utility locations, and field data using organizational software systems to maintain accurate records.
- • Operate GPS and surveying equipment to pinpoint exact coordinates of buried lines and infrastructure assets.
- • Communicate directly with clients, engineers, and internal management to coordinate utility location activities and resolve field issues.
- • Proactively identify potential risks to Zayo’s network integrity and recommend preventive measures to avoid service disruptions.
- • Maintain and inspect all tools, test sets, and network equipment to ensure operational readiness and safety compliance.
- • Manage asset inventory, including replenishment of on-site and truck materials, and coordinate shipping and receiving of company and customer materials.
- • Perform routine inspections of cabinets, buried cables, construction sites, and outdoor facilities in diverse weather conditions and environments, including exposure to local flora and fauna.
- • Operate company-issued vehicles in compliance with safety and driving policies, maintaining a clean driving record with no more than two moving violations in the past three years.
- • Lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds regularly and safely clear of job sites.
- • Follow all personal safety policies and procedures while working in the field, including adherence to OSHA and company-specific safety protocols.
- • Work on a rotating 24/7/365 on-call schedule, including standby, call-outs, dispatch, and overtime, with occasional travel as required.
- • Collaborate effectively in both individual and team settings, coordinating with other departments to achieve shared operational goals.
- • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Damage Prevention Team’s mission of protecting Zayo’s critical infrastructure.
