- • Locate and mark underground utilities, including fiber optic cables, using electrical, magnetic, GPS, blueprint analysis, and radar techniques to prevent damage during excavation and construction.
- • Analyze construction blueprints to determine project locations and identify potential conflicts with Zayo’s underground infrastructure.
- • Map the precise location and depth of utilities using surveying equipment and GPS technology to ensure accurate documentation and field marking.
- • Document all site interactions, utility locations, and field observations using organizational software systems.
- • Communicate directly with clients, engineers, and internal management to coordinate utility marking activities and resolve field issues.
- • Proactively identify high-risk areas that could compromise network integrity and recommend preventive actions to avoid utility strikes.
- • Operate and maintain field tools, test sets, and network equipment, ensuring all devices are calibrated and in working order.
- • Manage asset inventory by replenishing on-site and truck materials, coordinating shipping and receiving of company and customer materials.
- • Inspect cabinets, buried cables, construction sites, and outdoor facilities in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and exposure to local flora and fauna.
- • Maintain security, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies at all network sites and equipment locations.
- • Operate in both independent and team-based environments, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to meet project deadlines and safety standards.
- • Perform on-call duties 24/7/365 on a rotating schedule, including standby, call-outs, dispatches, overtime, and occasional travel as required.
- • Lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds and transport them clear of job sites.
- • Operate a company-issued vehicle in compliance with safety policies, maintaining a clean driving record (no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years).
- • Adhere to all personal safety policies and procedures while working in field environments.
- • Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Office applications, cell phones, and field test equipment.
- • Hold a valid state-issued driver’s license for the state of residence.
- • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- • Reside within 30 minutes of the Fort Wayne, IN metro area to ensure timely response to field assignments.
