• • In this dynamic role, your day-to-day responsibilities will revolve around providing immediate and accurate interpretation services over the phone. You will be tasked with handling incoming calls on demand, rendering the precise meaning of conversations between Danish and English speakers. This involves navigating a wide array of industries, including but not limited to healthcare, 911 and first responder services, education, government agencies, insurance, financial institutions, utilities, travel and hospitality, general business, and law enforcement. You will need to process information rapidly and concisely, demonstrating a keen awareness of sensitive cultural nuances that may arise during interactions. Maintaining a consistently professional and courteous demeanor is paramount, as is the accurate use of industry-specific terminology and an understanding of common procedures and practices. The interpreting sessions can range from straightforward exchanges to complex, technical discussions, requiring adaptability and a broad knowledge base. While this position focuses on verbal interpretation, individuals with translation or other linguistic skills are encouraged to apply, as your core function is to facilitate spoken communication.
• • You will be expected to respond to interpreting sessions promptly, initiating each interaction with a friendly and professional tone. A key aspect of your role is to render concepts and meanings accurately, adhering strictly to established interpretation protocols without omitting or adding information. Clear articulation in both Danish and English, with proper pronunciation and polite expressions, is essential. Maintaining a professional demeanor throughout all interpreting sessions, even in challenging circumstances, is a core requirement. This includes remaining calm and composed when speakers are incoherent or distressed, particularly during high-stakes emergency situations like 911 calls. Punctuality and consistent availability during your scheduled work hours are critical for ensuring seamless service delivery. You must diligently follow client instructions and established protocols to meet client expectations when interacting with Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals, always avoiding direct interaction with the LEP without explicit client permission. A thorough understanding of industry-specific protocols and terminology, particularly within Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law sectors, will be crucial for effective service.
