Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Drive mission-critical insights for a federal science & engineering agency as a 100 % remote Data Analyst. You will sit at the intersection of data, technology, and national impact—transforming raw information into the intelligence that shapes policy, funding, and breakthrough research.
- • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Oracle BI reports: extract, cleanse, and validate multi-terabyte datasets; map legacy Oracle BI artifacts to modern Tableau dashboards; and sunset obsolete reports without disrupting downstream consumers.
- • Architect and maintain a unified Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) that ingests Oracle BI, ServiceNow, HRIS, financial, and scientific datasets. You will design ETL pipelines, enforce data-quality SLAs, and document lineage so every figure that reaches leadership is traceable and trustworthy.
- • Build visually compelling, interactive dashboards in Tableau and Excel that translate complex scientific metrics into clear narratives for HR, business operations, and executive stakeholders. From workforce planning to grant-performance analytics, your visualizations will directly influence resource allocation and strategic direction.
- • Partner with the Division of Information Systems (DIS) to unlock ServiceNow’s data vault—extracting incident, change, asset, and workflow data to power predictive models and AI-driven automation initiatives that reduce manual effort and accelerate service delivery.
- • Serve as a consultative data translator in cross-functional working groups. Translate vague business questions into precise analytical requirements, recommend optimal data architectures (warehouse vs. lake vs. lakehouse), and socialize findings so both PhD scientists and non-technical managers can act on them.
- • Champion data governance and quality: create centralized issue-tracking playbooks, monitor resolution KPIs, and institute automated validation rules that catch anomalies before they reach decision-makers.
- • Collaborate with HR Management to analyze human-capital trends—attrition, skills gaps, diversity metrics, and performance drivers—then package insights into repeatable dashboards that inform workforce strategy across the federal enterprise.
- • Support the modernization roadmap by evaluating emerging analytics tools, piloting AI/ML models for process automation, and documenting best practices that scale beyond your immediate team.
- • Present findings in executive briefings, technical brown-bags, and inter-agency councils. Your storytelling will convert complex statistical results into actionable recommendations that secure funding and policy buy-in.
- • Maintain rigorous security and compliance standards appropriate for federal data environments, ensuring every query, dashboard, and pipeline meets FISMA, NIST, and agency-specific controls.
- • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement: run A/B tests on dashboard layouts, solicit user feedback, and iterate rapidly so the analytics portfolio evolves with mission priorities.
🎯 Requirements
- • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a government suitability clearance
- • Bachelor’s degree plus 3–5 years of hands-on data analysis experience, preferably within a federal or scientific agency
- • Demonstrated proficiency in Oracle BI, Tableau, Excel, SQL, and ServiceNow data extraction
- • Strong grasp of data modeling, integration, validation, and governance best practices
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a track record of presenting insights to diverse technical and non-technical audiences
🏖️ Benefits
- • 100 % remote work arrangement—work anywhere within the United States while supporting critical national missions
- • Opportunity to obtain and retain a federal security clearance, enhancing long-term career prospects in the public sector
- • Collaborative, outcome-driven culture that values innovation, continuous learning, and direct impact on science and engineering policy
- • Exposure to cutting-edge AI/ML and automation initiatives, positioning you at the forefront of federal data modernization efforts
