đź“‹ Description
- • Are you a data detective, driven by a relentless curiosity to uncover the 'why' behind every number? Do you thrive at the critical intersection where operational realities meet data-driven insights, transforming raw information into actionable strategies? If so, Trellis, the innovative tech company behind the Savvy insurance agency, is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Data Analyst, Agency to join our dynamic, remote-first team.
- • At Trellis, we are fundamentally reshaping the insurance industry, making it transparent, accessible, and refreshingly simple for consumers. Our licensed insurance agency, Savvy, is the engine that brings this vision to life, directly serving customers and generating revenue. The Consumer Operations team is the vibrant heart of our business, comprised of dedicated licensed agents who are on the front lines, assisting real people in real-time to secure the coverage they need. Every interaction, from a phone call to a quote, has a direct and measurable impact on our company's success. Currently, the data that informs these crucial decisions is not keeping pace with the rapid evolution of our business. This is where you come in.
- • As the Data Analyst, Agency, you will be instrumental in bridging this gap. You will dive deep into the complexities of our operational data, untangling intricate patterns and transforming what might seem like chaos into crystal-clear understanding. Your primary mission will be to translate these profound insights into concrete, data-backed recommendations that will directly enhance agent efficiency, drive revenue growth, and bolster the overall health and performance of the business. This role is not about passively reporting numbers; it's about actively shaping business strategy through rigorous analysis and compelling storytelling.
- • Your responsibilities will be broad and impactful, requiring a proactive and investigative mindset. You will collaborate closely with the Consumer Operations leadership to meticulously define and refine the key performance indicators (KPIs) that are essential for effectively running and scaling our business. This involves understanding the nuances of our operations and translating them into measurable metrics that truly reflect performance and drive accountability. A significant part of your role will involve deep-dive investigations into any unexpected shifts or anomalies in performance. Instead of merely identifying that a metric has changed, you will be expected to rigorously uncover the underlying root causes, providing a comprehensive understanding of the situation and recommending specific, actionable responses. Your insights will empower the business to move from a reactive stance to a proactive one, anticipating challenges and opportunities before they fully materialize.
- • Furthermore, you will be responsible for building and maintaining robust dashboards, automated alerts, and comprehensive monitoring systems. These tools will serve as an early warning system, surfacing potential issues and performance dips before they escalate into critical problems, allowing for timely intervention and mitigation. A key challenge and opportunity in this role will be to connect and harmonize disparate data sources, creating a unified, consistent, and trustworthy view of our operational landscape. This requires a strong understanding of data architecture and a knack for data wrangling. Your ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and compelling narratives for non-technical leaders will be paramount. You must be adept at communicating the 'so what?' of your analysis, ensuring that insights are understood and acted upon by stakeholders across the organization.
- • This position is ideal for someone who possesses an innate skepticism towards data, who doesn't accept a number at face value but rather interrogates it until its integrity is proven. You are the type of individual who can intuitively sense when something is not quite right, spotting subtle deviations and potential issues before they become apparent to others. You have a proven ability to follow a logical thread, connecting a specific metric to underlying behaviors and ultimately to tangible business outcomes. You thrive in environments that are characterized by rapid change, ambiguity, and a constant flow of new information, possessing the unique talent to transform such conditions into clarity and strategic direction. You derive genuine energy from being intimately connected to the day-to-day realities of how a business operates and find immense satisfaction in seeing your analytical work directly influence and shape revenue and strategic decisions. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact within a fast-growing, mission-driven company that is revolutionizing the insurance experience.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3–5 years of analytics experience, preferably within a fast-paced, startup, or high-growth environment.
- • Strong, hands-on proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- • Demonstrated experience with business intelligence and analytics tools such as Looker, dbt, or Tableau.
- • Proven track record of delivering data-driven insights that have demonstrably changed business operations or strategy.
- • Experience in building proactive monitoring systems and investigating performance trends to identify root causes.
- • Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive compensation package, targeting the 75th percentile and above.
- • Fully remote work environment, based in the US or Canada.
- • Flexible vacation policy designed to support work-life balance.
- • Comprehensive health insurance coverage with 100% employer premium contribution for employees.
- • Generous home office budget to create an optimal and comfortable workspace.
- • Access to wellness programming and resources to support overall well-being.
- • 401(k) and HSA contributions, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), and opportunities for bonuses and equity.
