Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • Join Muon Space, Inc. as a Data Analyst Intern for Summer 2026 and embark on a transformative journey at the forefront of space technology innovation. This remote internship offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into the world of data, applying cutting-edge analytical techniques to real-world challenges that are shaping the future of satellite operations and Earth observation. Muon Space is dedicated to building a constellation of advanced hyperspectral satellites, providing unparalleled insights into our planet's resources and environmental changes. As a Data Analyst Intern, you will be an integral part of our mission, contributing directly to the development and refinement of our data processing pipelines, analytical models, and the insights we deliver to our clients.
  • This role is designed for intellectually curious and highly motivated individuals who are eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment. You will collaborate closely with our experienced data science, engineering, and product teams, gaining hands-on experience with the entire data lifecycle – from ingestion and cleaning to analysis, visualization, and interpretation. Your work will directly impact our ability to extract meaningful information from vast datasets, enabling critical decision-making for environmental monitoring, agricultural management, disaster response, and urban planning.
  • As a Data Analyst Intern, your responsibilities will be diverse and challenging. You will be tasked with exploring large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. This will involve performing statistical analysis, developing data visualizations to communicate findings effectively, and assisting in the creation and validation of machine learning models. You will also play a role in documenting data sources, methodologies, and analytical processes, ensuring reproducibility and knowledge sharing within the team. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of dashboards and reports that translate raw data into actionable intelligence for internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • We encourage interns to bring their unique perspectives and innovative ideas to the table. You will be involved in brainstorming sessions, problem-solving initiatives, and potentially contributing to research projects that push the boundaries of what's possible with hyperspectral data. This internship is more than just a learning experience; it's a chance to make a tangible contribution to a company with a significant global impact. You will gain invaluable experience in data manipulation, statistical modeling, programming (likely Python or R), and data visualization tools, all within the context of a cutting-edge technological field.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and a passion for data-driven problem-solving. You should be comfortable working with large datasets and have a keen eye for detail. While prior experience with hyperspectral data is not required, a genuine interest in remote sensing, Earth science, or space technology will be highly beneficial. We are looking for individuals who are proactive, adaptable, and possess excellent communication skills, enabling them to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely. This internship is an exceptional opportunity to build your professional network, refine your technical skills, and gain a competitive edge in the data science and aerospace industries.
  • Throughout the summer, you will receive mentorship from senior members of our team, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional development. We are committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment where every intern feels valued and empowered to contribute their best work. You will be exposed to the intricacies of satellite data processing, from raw sensor readings to processed imagery and derived products. This includes understanding the unique challenges and opportunities presented by hyperspectral data, which offers a much richer spectral resolution than traditional multispectral imagery, allowing for more detailed material identification and analysis.
  • Your contributions could range from developing scripts to automate data quality checks, building predictive models for satellite performance, or creating interactive dashboards to visualize changes in land cover over time. You will learn to work with various data formats and geospatial tools, and potentially contribute to the development of algorithms for feature extraction or anomaly detection. This internship is a stepping stone for aspiring data scientists, analysts, and engineers looking to make a significant impact in a rapidly evolving industry. Muon Space is at the forefront of this revolution, and we invite you to be a part of it.

🎯 Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of statistical concepts.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used for data analysis, such as Python (with libraries like Pandas, NumPy, SciPy) or R.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

🏖️ Benefits

  • Gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge hyperspectral satellite data and Earth observation technologies.
  • Work remotely with a flexible schedule, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.
  • Receive mentorship from experienced data scientists and engineers in the aerospace industry.
  • Opportunity to contribute to impactful projects with real-world applications in environmental monitoring and resource management.
  • Build a professional network within a rapidly growing and innovative startup.
  • Potential for future employment opportunities based on performance and business needs.
