📋 Description

• As a Data Annotation Specialist at Cohere Inc., you will play a critical role in evaluating and improving the performance of cutting-edge AI models by assessing their ability to understand, generate, and debug code. Your work directly contributes to the reliability and effectiveness of Cohere’s foundation models used by enterprises worldwide.
• Day to day, you will evaluate model responses to coding requests, analyze agent trajectories, prompt models to complete complex programming tasks, label and refine both machine- and human-written software engineering outputs, and report on quality and performance trends to support model development.
• Cohere is a global, security-first enterprise AI company co-headquartered in Toronto and San Francisco, with offices across North America, Europe, and Asia. The team comprises researchers, engineers, and designers passionate about advancing AI responsibly and effectively.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in software engineering and AI evaluation, gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art code agents and model behaviors, and contribute meaningfully to the development of enterprise-grade AI systems.

🎯 Requirements

• Subject matter expertise in software engineering with 3-5 years of relevant industry experience
• Proficient knowledge of Python and programming languages including Java, JavaScript, Go, and SQL (any dialect)
• Prior experience designing, building, and deploying APIs
• Experience working with code agents (e.g., OpenCode, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) or evaluating agent trajectories is a plus

• Part-time independent contractor role with flexible remote work within Canada
• Minimum commitment of 16 hours per week at a rate of 40 CAD/hour
• 12-month contract with performance incentives included
