đź“‹ Description
- • Fluidstack is at the forefront of building the essential infrastructure for artificial superintelligence, encompassing compute, data centers, and power. As a Data Center Design Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of these advanced facilities, ensuring they are not only safe and compliant but also optimized for the extreme demands of AI compute workloads. This role is crucial for enabling the world's largest AI Labs to access GWs of compute capabilities at unprecedented speeds, directly contributing to the trajectory of superintelligence.
- • In this dynamic position, you will be responsible for leading the architectural design development for both new data center constructions and retrofits across Fluidstack's expanding global portfolio. Your involvement will span the entire project lifecycle, from initial conceptual design through the meticulous creation of construction documentation and ultimately to the successful site handover. A significant aspect of your day-to-day will involve close collaboration with a diverse range of cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, structural, and controls engineers, as well as security and construction specialists. This collaborative effort is essential to seamlessly integrate the architectural scope into the broader system designs, guaranteeing adherence to all relevant building codes, stringent fire and life safety regulations, and optimal operational performance at every phase of development.
- • You will also be instrumental in rationalizing requirements by working closely with internal operations and engineering teams. This partnership will allow you to define and continuously refine Fluidstack's next-generation data center design standards, ensuring they remain at the cutting edge of efficiency and performance. A key responsibility will be conducting thorough internal and external design reviews. These reviews will validate critical aspects such as code compliance, efficient space planning, the smooth circulation of people and materials, accurate headcount modeling, and overall alignment with Fluidstack's established canonical design standards. Furthermore, you will meticulously review construction-level drawings and specifications provided by both internal teams and external Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) vendors, ensuring they strictly adhere to architectural program standards and Fluidstack's basis of design.
- • As the primary escalation point for site-specific localization challenges, you will apply your extensive engineering judgment to adapt standard designs. This adaptation will be necessary to meet specific local codes, overcome unique site constraints, and incorporate valuable operational feedback, ensuring each facility is perfectly tailored to its environment. You will also actively manage external AEC vendors throughout the various design phases, maintaining a sharp focus on quality, ensuring adherence to project schedules, and guaranteeing alignment with Fluidstack's exacting requirements. To enhance efficiency and speed, you will leverage industry-standard tools such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud for producing, coordinating, and reviewing design documentation. Additionally, you will utilize Python and Dynamo scripting to automate repetitive design tasks, significantly improving team velocity and output.
- • Finally, a crucial part of your role will involve translating complex technical architectural concepts into clear, concise, and compelling communications. These summaries will be tailored for senior leadership, construction partners, and global stakeholders, utilizing various digital mediums to ensure understanding and drive alignment across all parties involved. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the physical infrastructure that underpins the advancement of artificial superintelligence, working within a small, fast-paced, and quality-obsessed team that values end-to-end ownership and continuous improvement.
- • The team at Fluidstack is characterized by its agility, speed, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Team members are empowered to own outcomes from start to finish, consistently challenge existing assumptions, and approach customer problems with a deep sense of ownership. This collaborative environment fosters a culture where no task is considered beneath anyone, promoting a hands-on approach to achieving ambitious goals. You will be joining a select group of individuals who are actively shaping the future trajectory of superintelligence, contributing to a mission of immense global significance.
- • In this role, you will not only contribute to the physical build-out of cutting-edge AI infrastructure but also gain invaluable experience in advanced data center design, high-density computing environments, and the rapid scaling of critical facilities. You will have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with leading engineers and operations specialists, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in data center architecture. The ability to automate design processes using scripting will further enhance your technical skillset, making you a more efficient and impactful contributor. This position offers a unique chance to grow your expertise in a rapidly evolving and highly impactful field, directly contributing to the development of technologies that will define the future.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent discipline.
- • 5+ years of experience on industrial or data center projects within an AEC environment.
- • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud for design coordination, life safety review, and architectural documentation.
- • Strong working knowledge of building codes, fire and life safety requirements, and data center construction standards.
- • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent design workstreams across internal and external teams, with excellent time management under shifting priorities and international deadlines.
- • Clear, confident communicator — able to present technical design decisions to senior leadership and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity).
- • Retirement or pension plan, in line with local norms.
- • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- • Generous PTO policy, in line with local norms.
