  • • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and distribute large-scale datasets related to the European power market, including real-time and historical energy data.
  • • Normalize and standardize heterogeneous data sources from diverse utilities, grid operators, and market participants to ensure consistency and accuracy across Kpler’s proprietary datasets.
  • • Develop and optimize ETL processes that support real-time availability computations and market forecasts across multiple time horizons, from intraday to long-term projections.
  • • Collaborate with data scientists and product teams to translate analytical requirements into robust data infrastructure solutions that power client-facing dashboards and insights.
  • • Implement data quality monitoring systems to detect anomalies, gaps, or latency in incoming feeds and automate remediation workflows where possible.
  • • Integrate with external APIs and data providers to expand coverage of the European power market, ensuring timely and reliable data ingestion.
  • • Maintain and improve data storage architectures using cloud-based technologies to handle petabyte-scale datasets with high availability and low latency.
  • • Document data schemas, pipeline dependencies, and operational procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity across the Power team.
  • • Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions to uphold engineering standards and promote best practices in data engineering.
  • • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to data pipelines, ensuring minimal downtime and high data integrity for critical client deliverables.
  • • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand evolving business needs and adapt data infrastructure to support new product features and market expansions.
  • • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data governance policies, metadata management, and lineage tracking for regulatory and operational transparency.
  • • Stay current with emerging tools and technologies in the data engineering space to enhance pipeline efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.
  • • Support the deployment of data services in production environments using CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • • Ensure all data systems comply with internal security protocols and data handling policies for sensitive energy market information.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines for time-series or energy market data
  • • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data transformation and automation
  • • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster)
  • • Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, and schema design for complex datasets
  • • Experience working with real-time or near-real-time data ingestion systems
  • • Familiarity with data quality monitoring and observability tools
