- • Designs, builds, and maintains scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and curate data from diverse sources into governed silver and gold layer objects for business use.
- • Develops moderately complex SQL queries, ETL packages, and reporting structures to support detailed analysis and self-service reporting needs across the organization.
- • Collaborates with analytics and business teams to design and improve data models that feed BI tools, enhancing data accessibility and enabling data-driven decision-making.
- • Takes ownership of the health, reliability, and security of the data platform by implementing proactive monitoring solutions to ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness from ingestion through curation.
- • Investigates, diagnoses, and resolves complex failures across the full data pipeline lifecycle, communicating root cause, status, and resolution clearly to stakeholders.
- • Builds and optimizes data pipelines for extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) from multiple source systems, including on-premise and cloud environments.
- • Implements internal process improvements through automation of manual tasks, code refactoring, and optimization of data delivery workflows.
- • Assists in the development of data solutions including API integrations and infrastructure components that support the enterprise data platform.
- • Provides strategic recommendations to BI leadership on data management practices, governance, and architecture best practices.
- • Works closely with developers, database administrators, data architects, and other teams on cross-functional data and reporting initiatives.
- • Applies knowledge of cloud infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, security) with a preference for Microsoft Azure services including Data Lake, Data Factory, Databricks, and Delta Lake.
- • Utilizes DevOps principles and platforms such as Azure DevOps or GitHub for CI/CD, version control, and pipeline automation.
- • Applies data modeling concepts including ER modeling, dimensional modeling, slowly changing dimensions (Type 1, Type 2), and medallion lakehouse architecture.
- • Conducts data quality analysis and supports master data management initiatives to ensure trusted data outputs.
- • Leverages programming languages such as Python and SQL (ANSI-SQL) for pipeline development and automation, with familiarity in C# or similar object-oriented languages.
- • Orchestrates automation using PowerShell scripts and bash commands to streamline data operations.
- • Maintains intermediate understanding of database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server.
- • Demonstrates foundational knowledge of BI best practices in data visualization, integration, analysis, and modeling.
- • Understands cloud engineering principles and data architecture patterns including Medallion, Kappa, and Mesh.
- • Operates effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment, balancing competing priorities with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- • Communicates clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical teams through verbal and written channels.
- • Functions productively in a fully remote work environment while maintaining accountability and collaboration standards.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
- • 5+ years of equivalent experience substituting for education
- • Demonstrated programming experience with SQL (ANSI-SQL)
- • Professional experience working in cloud data ecosystems, preferably Azure
- • Experience with ETL/ELT and data pipeline development
- • Experience with DevOps principles and platforms (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub)
