Data Engineer II - Data Platform (REMOTE)

📋 Description

• • Architect and maintain next-generation data platforms that power advanced analytics and machine learning across every DICK’S touchpoint—from e-commerce recommendations to supply-chain optimization—ensuring athletes get the right gear at the right moment.
• • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of cloud-native data pipelines using Snowflake, Databricks, and BigQuery; design for petabyte-scale ingestion, transformation, and serving while enforcing strict SLAs and cost guardrails.
• • Automate infrastructure with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) so that every environment—from dev to prod—can be spun up, tested, and torn down in minutes, not days.
• • Partner with data scientists, merchandisers, and marketing analysts to translate business questions into scalable data models; your work will directly influence assortment planning, pricing strategies, and personalized customer experiences.
• • Champion data quality and governance: implement automated testing, lineage tracking, and anomaly detection to ensure the integrity of athlete and inventory data across all channels.
• • Optimize cloud spend by rightsizing clusters, leveraging spot instances, and instituting tiered storage policies—turning cost efficiency into a competitive advantage.
• • Provide tier-2 on-call support for critical data systems; respond to incidents, perform root-cause analyses, and feed learnings back into resilient architecture patterns.
• • Continuously level-up through internal guilds, hackathons, and external conferences; earn SnowPro or Databricks certifications on company time and budget.
• • Contribute to our inclusive culture by mentoring junior engineers, leading lunch-and-learns, and participating in our Teammate Resource Groups that celebrate diversity in sport and tech.
• • Uphold security best practices—encrypt data at rest and in transit, manage secrets via Vault or KMS, and collaborate with InfoSec to pass SOC 2 and PCI audits without friction.
