Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • As a Data Product Partner (DPP) at Perk, you will be instrumental in bridging the critical gap between our business objectives and our sophisticated data infrastructure. You will operate at the nexus of business strategy and data science, ensuring that Perk's data assets are not only accurate and accessible but also drive tangible, measurable impact for our users and the company.
  • Your core mandate is to serve as the primary data consultant, strategist, and relationship manager for a designated business domain, such as Customer Care, Finance, Marketing, Revenue, Spend & Control, or Travel. This involves understanding the unique challenges and opportunities within your domain and translating them into data-driven solutions.
  • You will proactively collaborate with business leaders to define and develop a comprehensive Business Data Strategy. This involves identifying how data can be leveraged to achieve strategic goals, overcome critical obstacles, and uncover entirely new avenues for growth and innovation.
  • A key aspect of your role will be to identify and rigorously qualify potential value from data initiatives. You will proactively seek out high-impact use cases and projects that promise to deliver maximum measurable value, whether that's through increasing revenue, reducing operational costs, or enhancing overall efficiency within your partner business unit.
  • You will act as the central translator, adeptly communicating complex data concepts to diverse audiences, from technical data team members to executive leadership. This requires explaining the same information in different ways to ensure clarity and understanding across all disciplines.
  • Proactive expectation management and the development of flexible, yet defined, roadmaps will be crucial. You will need to set clear boundaries and timelines, ensuring that projects remain aligned with business priorities and technical feasibility.
  • Developing a strong 'product sense' for data is paramount. This means anticipating potential data quality issues before they arise, recognizing when simpler, more pragmatic solutions are more effective than overly complex ones, and strategically declining requests that deviate from our overarching vision and strategic goals.
  • You will be responsible for publicizing and amplifying the successes of the data team's work. This includes showcasing completed projects and their impact to drive broader adoption, foster learning, and encourage further data-driven initiatives across the organization.
  • A significant part of your role will involve coaching business teams to develop their own capabilities for preliminary data investigations, empowering them to become more self-sufficient in their data exploration.
  • You will focus on defining *what* needs to be built and *why* it's important from a business perspective, rather than the technical *how*. This ensures that we are building the right solutions to address genuine user needs and business problems, distinguishing your role from that of a Data Team Lead who focuses on the execution quality.
  • While Data Teams will own the timeline estimations for development, you, as the DPP, will define the urgency, the required business target date, and the prioritization of requests. This input directly influences how the Craft team approaches their estimations and resource allocation.
  • You will shape and prioritize incoming data requests by working closely with business stakeholders. This involves clarifying their needs, transforming vague requests into well-defined, measurable projects with clear technical data requirements ready for handover to the Data Teams.
  • You will manage the data portfolio for your assigned business unit, overseeing the pipeline of data projects, data products, and initiatives. This ensures alignment with available capacity and strategic priorities, and requires close collaboration with Data Teams to balance technical trade-offs against potential business impact.
  • Continuous monitoring and reporting on the actual business outcomes and Return on Investment (ROI) delivered by completed data projects and products will be a key responsibility, ensuring accountability and demonstrating value realization.
  • As the first point of contact for data-related inquiries from the business, you will play a critical role in triaging and assessing the appropriate level of effort and ownership for each request.
  • You will conduct initial ad-hoc analyses where appropriate, utilizing tools like SQL and Looker for exploratory analysis, quick validations, sanity checks, and hypothesis testing.
  • This initial analysis will enable you to directly answer simple, time-sensitive business questions, clarify underlying problems, and assess the feasibility, data quality, and potential impact of proposed solutions.
  • You will triage and prioritize ad-hoc requests, distinguishing between those that can be resolved quickly and those requiring deeper analytical or engineering work. Well-defined requests will be escalated and handed over to the relevant Data Analytics, Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, or Data Governance teams, providing clear context, urgency, and success criteria.
  • You will actively identify recurring ad-hoc requests that signal gaps in existing dashboards, data products, data quality, documentation, or enablement, presenting opportunities to convert reactive work into scalable, proactive data products.
  • You will provide expert data consulting to business stakeholders, offering guidance on data availability, appropriate methodologies, and the interpretation of data insights.
  • You will champion data literacy and the adoption of data tools and insights within your business unit, coaching teams on how to effectively integrate data into their daily decision-making processes.
  • Proactively surfacing observations, trends, or risks as concise nuggets of insight will be a regular part of your contribution.
  • You will focus on bridging the 'data-to-action' gap, ensuring that insights are clearly communicated, translated, and embedded into concrete business actions and process changes.
  • You will ensure that the pain points arising from data quality gaps are identified and prioritized for resolution within the Data Team.
  • This role requires you to be based within commuting distance of our Barcelona hub, as we operate with an IRL-first approach, valuing in-person collaboration three days a week to foster connectivity, productivity, and creativity.

🎯 Requirements

  • Proven experience in a data-focused role, such as Data Analyst, Product Manager, Business Analyst, or similar, with a strong understanding of data principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including SQL for querying and data manipulation, and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear business insights and influence decision-making across different levels of an organization.
  • Strong product thinking and strategic mindset, with the ability to identify business opportunities, define requirements, and prioritize initiatives based on potential business impact and value realization.
  • Experience in demand shaping, portfolio management, and managing the lifecycle of data products or projects from ideation to delivery and value tracking.

🏖️ Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity package.
  • Comprehensive health insurance and wellness programs.
  • Generous paid time off and flexible working arrangements.
  • Opportunities for professional development, training, and conference attendance.
  • A vibrant and inclusive company culture with regular team events and social activities.
  • Relocation assistance for candidates moving to Barcelona.
