Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join Rundoo as a Data Science Intern and play a pivotal role in transforming the building materials industry through cutting-edge technology. Our mission is to empower independent suppliers, from local hardware stores to specialized flooring and paint shops, with best-in-class software, moving them away from outdated, on-premises systems. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing, venture-backed startup (with $18M raised across three rounds from leading investors like Bessemer and CRV) that is revolutionizing an often-overlooked sector. You will be instrumental in building and scaling our Go-To-Market (GTM) engine, working closely with the Head of Data Science, Amrit, and collaborating with members of our revenue operations and GTM teams.
- • As a Data Science Intern, you will dive deep into analyzing critical data across product, sales, and GTM initiatives. Your primary responsibility will be to translate complex business requests and hypotheses from product, sales, and GTM teams into well-defined data problems. You will then execute on these problems, leveraging your analytical and programming skills to derive actionable insights.
- • A significant part of your role will involve building robust utilities designed to orchestrate and connect data streams across various tools and services. This will require a methodical approach to data integration and management, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for informed decision-making.
- • You will be expected to work with Python and utilize Git for version control and collaboration, ensuring your work is traceable and reproducible. Familiarity with the Pandas library is essential for data manipulation and analysis, and you should be adept at writing performant code, employing techniques like vectorized operations and parallel processing to optimize efficiency.
- • Documentation is key in this role. You will be responsible for thoroughly documenting your work, ensuring that your analyses and code can be easily understood, replicated, and built upon by others. This commitment to clear documentation will foster a collaborative and efficient data science environment.
- • This internship is designed for individuals who are proactive learners and problem-solvers. You should be comfortable independently learning to work with different APIs and tools as needed to accomplish your tasks. This self-directed learning ability is crucial in a dynamic startup environment where new challenges and technologies emerge regularly.
- • Your contributions will directly impact Rundoo's growth strategy by providing data-driven insights that inform product development, sales strategies, and overall GTM effectiveness. You'll gain hands-on experience in a real-world business context, applying theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems.
- • The role offers a fantastic opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, including the CTO Andrew (ex-Apple, Anova) and CEO Nick (ex-Bridgewater, Citadel, Google, Enigma), who bring a wealth of knowledge from top tech and finance companies. You'll be part of a team of builders, sellers, and industry veterans dedicated to bringing modern technology to an underserved market.
- • This internship is based in Chicago, offering flexibility to work from our office. You will report directly to the Head of Data Science, gaining valuable mentorship and exposure to high-level data strategy. If you are passionate about leveraging data to drive business outcomes and thrive in a fast-paced, innovative startup culture, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
🎯 Requirements
- • Based in Chicago or surrounding suburbs with flexibility to work from our office.
- • Comfortable working in Python and using Git to track your work (minimum 1 year of experience).
- • Familiarity with Pandas and writing performant code (e.g., vectorized operations, parallel processing).
- • Ability to learn how to work with different APIs or tools independently.
- • Strong documentation skills to support reproducibility.
- • Experience in research environments using data to answer real-world problems (nice-to-have).
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary: $1200/week.
- • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage (100% of premiums for you, 50% for dependents).
- • 401k with Betterment.
- • Unlimited PTO with 10 company-paid holidays.
- • Daily team lunches for those in office.
- • Learning materials and audiobook subscriptions.
- • Dog-friendly office.
