📋 Description

• Join Melotech as our inaugural Data Scientist and become the architect of data-driven insights in the dynamic world of music and audio entertainment. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in transforming raw, often unstructured, data into actionable intelligence that directly shapes the strategic direction of our rapidly growing company. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, working closely with our founder and the core team to unravel complex cultural phenomena and predict future trends.
• Your primary mission will be to identify and exploit novel, hard-to-reach data sources. This involves developing and implementing creative data acquisition strategies, including sophisticated scraping techniques, to gather information that lies beyond conventional APIs. You will be the pioneer in mapping out and accessing these untapped reservoirs of knowledge.
• A significant part of your responsibility will be to build robust data processing pipelines from the ground up. These pipelines will be designed to efficiently handle, clean, and structure large volumes of raw, unstructured data, ensuring its readiness for analysis and model development. This foundational work is critical for enabling scalable and reliable data operations.
• You will leverage cutting-edge technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and agentic coding tools, to significantly accelerate data cleaning, feature engineering, and analytical workflows. This will allow for faster iteration and deeper exploration of the data.
• To facilitate real-time data collection and automated scraping, you will be responsible for setting up and managing cloud infrastructure, such as EC2 instances on AWS. This hands-on infrastructure management ensures a continuous flow of up-to-date information.
• You will be tasked with prototyping, developing, and deploying machine learning models on AWS. These models will be designed for a variety of applications, including real-time predictions, sophisticated content analysis, and identifying emerging cultural patterns.
• A key output of your work will be the creation of custom dashboards and comprehensive reports. These visualizations and summaries will be crucial for effectively communicating complex insights, trends, and recommendations to leadership, enabling informed strategic decision-making.
• Your analytical efforts will focus on understanding emerging cultural trends, dissecting audience behavior, and evaluating performance metrics across our platforms. The insights derived will directly guide business development, product strategy, and content acquisition.
• This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, where you will tackle challenging business questions by finding innovative ways to access and interpret data. You are expected to translate complex statistical findings into clear, actionable strategies that drive tangible business outcomes.
• You will be at the forefront of understanding what makes content go viral, identifying underserved market categories, and predicting the next big cultural wave, providing Melotech with a significant competitive advantage.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative/technical field.
• 3+ years of hands-on data science experience in fast-paced business environments, preferably within Tier 1 consultancies, Big Tech, high-growth startups/scale-ups, or leading media companies.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, including extensive experience with standard data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Proven experience in data acquisition, including scraping raw data from new sources and building creative solutions to access datasets beyond standard APIs.
• Extensive hands-on experience with agentic coding tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) applied to data workflows for analysis and cleaning.
• Demonstrated experience in deploying machine learning models into production environments, including setting up the necessary infrastructure and implementing monitoring solutions.
• Advanced data visualization skills, capable of creating compelling narratives with standard libraries (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly) or tools like Tableau.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and business teams.
• A passion for music, video, or social media, with a deep understanding of the cultural landscape within these domains.
