  • • As a Data Scientist on College Board's Data Science Team, you will play a pivotal role in transforming data into actionable insights that optimize test delivery, development, and security for one of the nation’s most influential educational organizations. Your work will directly support executive leadership and technology teams in making data-informed decisions that impact millions of students, educators, and institutions nationwide.
  • • You will design and implement machine learning applications using cutting-edge cloud and ML technologies, independently managing end-to-end development of small to medium-sized solutions while ensuring high quality, fairness, and scalability. This includes building APIs, data stores, and model components that integrate seamlessly with other systems and are accessible for production use.
  • • You will lead data engineering, exploration, and analysis efforts by creating scalable data pipelines that convert operational data into reliable, production-ready datasets, uncovering insights from existing data, and driving the collection of new data sources to support strategic initiatives.
  • • You will communicate complex analytical findings through clear, accessible language and intuitive visualizations, ensuring that technical results are understandable and actionable for non-technical stakeholders across business units and leadership.
  • • You will contribute to team success by supporting Agile practices, improving team productivity through tool and process enhancements, advising on ML governance, and assisting in the resolution of production issues, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

  • • You will have the opportunity to grow your expertise in machine learning, data engineering, and cloud technologies while applying your skills to meaningful challenges in education technology, with direct impact on test security, fairness, and accessibility.
  • • You will develop your ability to tell compelling data stories, influence strategic decisions, and bridge the gap between technical innovation and business needs in a mission-driven nonprofit environment.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Programming expertise in Python and familiarity with pandas for data manipulation and analysis.
  • • Proven experience developing Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) solutions to solve real-world problems, including model evaluation, fairness assessment, and deployment.
  • • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, along with skills in designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines for operational data transformation.
  • • Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and Agile methodologies, with experience developing applications on serverless or microservices cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
  • • Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and tell a compelling story with data.
  • • Master’s in a quantitative discipline or computer science, OR Bachelor’s with 3–4 years of related experience, OR 5+ years of relevant experience with a strong track record of impact.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive hiring range of $130,000–$166,000, with salary determined by location, experience, and market benchmarks to ensure fairness and transparency.
  • • Fully remote work option across the USA, with hybrid availability (Tuesday/Wednesday in-office) for candidates near College Board offices.
  • • Comprehensive benefits package supporting health, wellness, and financial security, aligned with College Board’s mission-driven culture and commitment to employee growth.
  • • Opportunities for continuous learning and professional development, including access to emerging technologies and AI-driven tools, supported by a culture of curiosity and innovation.
  • • Collaborative, inclusive team environment that values empathy, feedback, and shared success, with regular virtual team-building activities like happy hours.
  • • Meaningful work contributing to educational equity and opportunity, where your data science expertise helps expand access to college and career pathways for students nationwide.
