Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • Nivoda is seeking a pioneering Data Scientist to join its rapidly expanding Growth team, a pivotal role in shaping the company's data-driven future. This is a unique opportunity to establish and lead the data science function from its inception, directly influencing strategic decisions and driving significant business outcomes across all facets of growth. As the founding data scientist, you will be instrumental in building the analytical infrastructure, fostering a culture of experimentation, and unlocking actionable insights from complex datasets. Your work will span the entire growth funnel, from initial user acquisition and onboarding to activation, product adoption, and revenue expansion, making this a high-impact position within a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • In this dynamic role, you will be at the forefront of driving growth through rigorous experimentation and data analysis. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include designing, building, and owning a comprehensive A/B testing and experimentation framework specifically tailored for the growth function. This involves meticulously defining key metrics, establishing robust holdout groups, performing significance testing, and clearly communicating complex findings to a diverse audience, including both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will actively identify opportunities for rapid iteration and champion a proactive test-and-learn culture throughout the growth pod, ensuring that data insights are consistently translated into actionable strategies. Furthermore, you will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and databases that are crucial for supporting real-time and near-real-time growth analytics. This includes developing efficient ETL pipelines, likely using Python, to ensure a consistent flow of clean and reliable data into dashboards and analytical models. You will also collaborate closely with the Head of Data Engineering to ensure alignment on tooling, architectural decisions, and the adoption of best practices, contributing to a cohesive and robust data infrastructure.
  • Your analytical responsibilities will extend to deeply analyzing user behavior across the entire customer journey, from acquisition channels and onboarding processes to conversion rates, user engagement patterns, and churn prediction. You will develop sophisticated models and intuitive dashboards that surface actionable insights for the growth and marketing teams, enabling them to make informed, data-backed decisions. A key aspect of this role involves actively working with AI tools and emerging technologies, bringing demonstrable experience of AI-native workflows to enhance analytical capabilities and drive innovation. You will serve as the primary data partner for growth Product Managers, engineers, and marketing stakeholders, translating intricate analyses into clear, compelling narratives and actionable recommendations for senior leadership. As the data science function evolves, you will play a crucial role in defining what a best-in-class data science capability looks like at Nivoda and actively contribute to its ongoing development and expansion.
  • This role offers an exceptional platform for professional growth and learning. You will gain invaluable experience in building a data science function from the ground up, developing expertise in growth analytics, experimentation, and data infrastructure within a high-growth scale-up environment. You will have the autonomy to define processes, select tools, and influence the data strategy, fostering a strong builder mindset. The opportunity to work closely with AI tools and emerging technologies will keep your skills at the cutting edge of the field. By partnering with cross-functional teams and presenting insights to senior leadership, you will hone your communication and strategic thinking abilities. Ultimately, this position is about making a tangible impact on Nivoda's exponential growth trajectory, transforming a traditional industry through data innovation and becoming a key architect of the company's data-driven success.
  • Nivoda is a rapidly growing marketplace transforming the global jewelry industry. Our core mission is to understand and meet our customers' needs by providing a seamless and innovative experience. With a global team spread across major cities like London, New York, Hong Kong, and Mumbai, we are dedicated to disrupting a traditionally steeped industry through bold ideas, relentless pursuit of excellence, and a customer-centric approach. We are building a vibrant company culture that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning, making it an exciting place to contribute and grow.
  • The Growth team at Nivoda is at the heart of our expansion efforts, focusing on acquiring, activating, and retaining users. This role is embedded within this dynamic team, providing direct exposure to the strategies and tactics that fuel our rapid growth. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and marketers who are passionate about leveraging data to achieve ambitious goals. This is an opportunity to influence product development, marketing campaigns, and overall business strategy through your data expertise, working in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering, or demonstrate equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience as a Data Scientist is required, with a strong preference for experience within a growth pod or a growth-focused team at a scale-up company, ideally between Series B and pre-IPO stages. Crucially, you must have hands-on experience in building and managing A/B testing frameworks from scratch, showcasing your ability to establish experimental infrastructure. Strong engineering fundamentals are essential, including proficiency in building ETL pipelines, data models, and writing production-quality analytical code, with Python being the preferred language. Experience operating in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment, handling complex, cross-functional data, is also a key requirement. Furthermore, candidates should be AI-native, actively utilizing AI tools in their daily workflow and able to articulate their tangible impact. A comfortable and proactive approach to operating autonomously with a builder mindset is paramount, as you will be instrumental in establishing the data science function without existing established processes to rely upon.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience within a marketplace business, particularly those with two-sided platforms managing real-time supply and demand dynamics. A background as a growth analyst or in a growth Product Manager-adjacent role prior to transitioning into data science would be highly advantageous. Prior experience working in high-growth companies, specifically those in Series B to D funding stages where the emphasis was on building new capabilities rather than solely maintaining existing ones, is also a significant plus. These preferred qualifications will enable the candidate to hit the ground running and contribute even more effectively to Nivoda's growth objectives.
