Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Data Scientist II in the Global Watchlist team at Socure, you will serve as a critical bridge between advanced research and real-world deployment, ensuring that cutting-edge fraud prevention models translate into measurable customer success and operational excellence.
- • Your work will directly impact Socure’s mission to verify 100% of good identities in real time and stop fraud before it starts, enabling businesses and governments to trust digital interactions at scale.
- • You will design and maintain scalable analysis frameworks that empower the Data Science Customer Applications (DSCA) team to rapidly resolve client issues during proof-of-concepts, onboarding, and ongoing production support, reducing time-to-value and increasing customer satisfaction.
- • You will act as the primary technical liaison between Watchlist R&D and DSCA teams, translating complex model behaviors—such as false positives, drift, and edge-case performance—into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- • You will build and manage mission-critical monitoring and alerting systems using custom dashboards and real-time pipelines to detect model degradation, identify sub-segment performance issues, and surface anomalies before they impact customers.
- • You will drive closed-loop model improvement by systematically analyzing production data and POC findings to feed real-world feedback back into core model development, ensuring models evolve with emerging fraud patterns.
- • You will enhance Socure’s in-house data infrastructure by building and optimizing end-to-end pipelines using Spark, Airflow, and Databricks to support automated reporting, performance tracking, and scalable Watchlist POC execution.
- • You will collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Compliance teams to align machine-learning objectives with regulatory requirements (e.g., AML, sanctions screening) and customer needs, ensuring solutions are both technically sound and legally compliant.
- • You will deepen your expertise in NLP, LLMs, and identity fraud prevention while working on high-stakes, real-world problems that affect millions of identities daily, positioning you at the forefront of regulatory technology innovation.
- • You will grow as a technical leader by owning end-to-end solutions—from data curation and pipeline orchestration to insight generation and stakeholder communication—within a high-bar, owner-minded culture that values impact over process.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or similar) with 3–5 years of experience, or a Master’s/Ph.D. with 1–3 years of experience.
- • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience in Spark and Databricks for large-scale data processing.
- • Experience with Airflow for workflow orchestration and familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and AWS environments.
- • Solid grasp of descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and model evaluation metrics including Precision, Recall, F-beta, and ROC-AUC.
- • Practical experience in data curation, labeling strategies, and building automated data-quality validation checks.
- • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical findings to both technical R&D peers and non-technical stakeholders in product, engineering, and compliance.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Remote-first work environment within the United States, offering flexibility and autonomy in how and where you work.
- • Opportunity to work on high-impact identity trust infrastructure used by Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and fintechs to prevent fraud at scale.
- • Access to cutting-edge tools and technologies including Spark, Databricks, Airflow, Elasticsearch, and AWS for building scalable ML systems.
- • Exposure to real-world AML, sanctions screening, and identity fraud prevention challenges, with opportunities to deepen domain expertise.
- • Collaborative, owner-minded culture that values critical thinking, initiative, and impact over hierarchy or bureaucracy.
- • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with Socure being an equal opportunity employer that provides accommodations throughout the hiring process.
