- • As a Data Scientist focused on Risk and User Experience at Sleeper Technologies, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a trusted and engaging fantasy sports platform used by millions, directly influencing how users onboard, interact, and transact while safeguarding platform integrity through data-driven insights.
- • You will collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to design and implement scalable analytics systems that detect fraud in real time, optimize user journeys, and build adaptive verification flows that balance security with seamless user experience.
- • Your work will involve instrumenting event-level data using tools like Firebase and Amplitude, defining schemas for user activity (account creation, sessions, device/IP data), and establishing measurement methodologies to quantify fraudulent behaviors and transaction risks.
- • You will apply advanced analytical techniques including classification, clustering, and anomaly detection to large-scale behavioral and transactional data, continuously evaluating and refining models to respond to evolving threats and market dynamics.
- • By partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders, you will help define what constitutes 'good' user behavior across the lifecycle, build internal tooling for risk signaling, and triage emerging threats with operations teams to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for sports fans.
- • This role offers the opportunity to build foundational data infrastructure from the ground up in a fast-moving, innovative environment where your contributions will have a measurable impact on product safety, user trust, and platform scalability.
- • You will grow your expertise in applying machine learning to real-world integrity challenges, gain deep exposure to real-time event streaming systems, and develop end-to-end ownership of analytics solutions that power critical business decisions.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years of industry experience in data science, economics, analytics, or machine learning engineering
- • Advanced degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field
- • Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, Hive, Spark, and Airflow for scripting and big data processing
- • Experience building or working with event-based analytics systems (e.g., Firebase, Amplitude)
- • Familiarity with machine learning methods for classification, clustering, or anomaly detection
- • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and operations teams
