- • Deputy General Counsel role at Upside Services, Inc., reporting to the CFO, responsible for ensuring company-wide legal compliance and managing legal risk in a fast-paced, growing technology company transforming brick-and-mortar commerce through innovative cashback and profit-sharing solutions.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing contract review and execution across the company, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts with merchants, data providers, and vendors, providing legal advice on contract law, privacy, data protection, consumer protection, and commercial litigation, and managing relationships with outside counsel.
- • Upside is a mission-driven company that has helped millions of users earn 2–3x more cashback and enabled hundreds of thousands of brick-and-mortar businesses to generate measurable profit, with billions in commerce flowing through its platform annually, supporting retailers, consumers, and sustainability initiatives.
- • The role offers the opportunity to join a small but expanding legal team, work on novel legal issues in a dynamic environment, develop expertise in technology and data privacy law, and exercise significant autonomy while contributing to high-impact business decisions.
🎯 Requirements
- • 12+ years of experience as a practicing attorney (in-house or at a law firm)
- • Extensive experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
- • J.D. degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- • Experience with data privacy law is preferable
- • Experience in the technology industry is highly preferred
- • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
