• We are embarking on a new chapter of growth within our Design organization and are seeking a visionary global leader to spearhead our Design Systems & Visual Experience. This pivotal role will define the creative standard across all product touchpoints, shaping the visual direction of our brand and user experiences.
• You will be instrumental in bringing world-class art direction and compelling storytelling to every aspect of our creations. Simultaneously, you will evolve our design system to ensure that every user experience is not only visually distinctive but also consistently scalable, differentiated, and unified across our global teams.
• This position is critical in defining how millions of users, from novice traders to global institutions, engage with the next generation of cryptocurrency. You will drive the scaling of design across CeFi, DeFi, and Web3, fostering a cohesive global brand and product ecosystem that masterfully balances clarity, creativity, and impact.
• Partner closely with product and business leadership to ensure that our design systems and visual identity are not just aesthetic elements, but strategic drivers of product adoption, user retention, and brand differentiation in a competitive market.
• Provide overarching global art direction and visual leadership, elevating the aesthetic appeal, intuitive feel, and overall usability of all our products to world-class standards.
• Take ownership of strengthening, scaling, and leading our comprehensive design system. Your efforts will be crucial in driving consistency, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring a high-quality user experience across all product interfaces and interactions.
• Guide, mentor, and inspire a globally distributed team of talented designers, fostering an environment that continuously raises the bar for design craft, execution excellence, and innovative thinking.
• Collaborate seamlessly with product managers, engineering teams, and marketing partners to champion and embed design excellence throughout the entire user journey, from initial discovery to long-term engagement.
• Masterfully balance the demands of creative expression with the necessity of scalability, delivering design solutions that are both aesthetically expressive and systematically robust, ensuring they can adapt to future needs.
• Demonstrate exceptional adaptability, quickly responding to shifting priorities and evolving market demands within a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, all while upholding the highest standards of design quality and strategic alignment.
• Cultivate and nurture a strong, vibrant design culture within the organization. Encourage continuous growth, foster deep collaboration among team members, and champion a spirit of relentless innovation.
• Drive the evolution of our visual language and design principles, ensuring they are clearly articulated, well-documented, and effectively implemented across all platforms and products.
• Champion user-centered design principles, ensuring that all visual and systematic design decisions are grounded in a deep understanding of user needs, behaviors, and motivations.
• Develop and maintain a robust framework for design governance, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and design system standards while allowing for necessary creative flexibility.
• Contribute to the strategic roadmap of the design organization, identifying opportunities for design to drive business objectives and enhance the overall OKX brand perception globally.
• Act as a key advocate for design within the broader organization, effectively communicating the value and impact of design to stakeholders at all levels.
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of comprehensive design documentation, including style guides, component libraries, and best practice guidelines, ensuring they are accessible and actionable for all teams.
• Lead initiatives to explore and integrate emerging design trends and technologies, ensuring OKX remains at the forefront of visual experience and user interface innovation in the Web3 space.
• Develop and implement metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of the design system and visual experience initiatives, using data to inform future strategies and improvements.
• Foster strong relationships with external design communities and thought leaders, representing OKX and staying abreast of industry best practices and innovations.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience in both visual design and design systems, with a background in hands-on execution as an individual contributor and recent experience in management.
• Strong expertise in product design art direction and visual storytelling; branding experience is a plus.
• Deep knowledge of systematic design thinking and building scalable, unified design systems.
• Experience scaling design teams and building cross-functional design operations in high-growth environments.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence at C-suite level and represent design externally.
• Track record of successfully managing and inspiring globally distributed teams.
• Ability to set strategic design direction and influence stakeholders at the highest level.
• Adaptable, solution-oriented, and comfortable in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with web3 culture and community.
• Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus, to communicate effectively with engineering teams in the Hong Kong and Singapore regions.
