📋 Description

• As a Design System Specialist at Zello Inc., you will take architectural ownership of the design system across iOS, Android, and React platforms, ensuring cross-platform consistency and driving the evolution of the system to support Zello’s voice-first communication platform used by over 175 million desk-less workers worldwide.
• Day to day, you will own and prioritize the design system backlog in Jira, build and ship production-quality Figma components for iOS (UIKit/SwiftUI) and Android (Material Design 3), manage the React token pipeline end-to-end using Style Dictionary and Storybook, conduct cross-platform consistency audits, partner with engineering leads to validate design-to-code fidelity, and contribute to product design work as the system matures.
• Zello is a mission-driven technology company serving frontline workers in logistics, hospitality, transportation, and construction, with a design system that enables rapid, reliable product development across platforms. You’ll report to the Manager of Product Design and collaborate closely with the Staff Product Designer and DS owner, operating with IC-4 authority from day one.
• In this role, you will deliver a gap assessment and prioritized backlog within the first two weeks, ship vetted Figma components without rework, establish a fully documented React token pipeline, resolve cross-platform inconsistencies with justified exceptions, and contribute product design work at IC-4 level — gaining deep influence over platform consistency and design system maturity while building relationships across iOS, Android, and React engineering teams.

🎯 Requirements

• Built native iOS components with genuine UIKit/SwiftUI behavioral fidelity, able to explain platform-specific decisions from portfolio
• Built Android components reflecting Material Design 3 conventions, capable of discussing Compose vs. View-based models with Android engineers
• Owned a React token pipeline end-to-end, including Style Dictionary configuration and tradeoff decisions, with ability to explain every choice
• Written Storybook documentation that engineers and designers can use without walkthroughs
• Held engineering leads accountable for design fidelity by surfacing and resolving design-to-code discrepancies before shipment
• Managed own design system backlog proactively — identifying issues, prioritizing work, and communicating status without direction
• Have product design work in portfolio (screens, flows, features) demonstrating platform-appropriate judgment beyond brief execution
• 7+ years of experience with IC-4 platform depth across iOS, Android, and React
