📋 Description

• As a DevOps Engineer at Hudu, you will be instrumental in ensuring the robust, secure, and highly available operation of our cutting-edge Ruby on Rails SaaS platform. This role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing our infrastructure, which is built upon AWS and Kubernetes, serving thousands of IT professionals and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) globally.
• You will be responsible for the deployment and ongoing management of our Ruby on Rails applications across both production and staging environments. This includes ensuring high availability, seamless scalability, and unwavering resilience, so our users can rely on Hudu at all times.
• A core aspect of your role will involve implementing and rigorously maintaining security best practices across our entire infrastructure. This encompasses managing identity and access (IAM), ensuring data is encrypted both at rest and in transit, conducting container security scanning, and overseeing a proactive patch management strategy to safeguard our systems.
• You will be the first line of defense in monitoring and analyzing application and infrastructure logs. This includes diving deep into Rails logs, Kubernetes logs, AWS CloudWatch, S3 access logs, Nginx, and PostgreSQL logs to proactively identify, investigate, and swiftly resolve any emerging issues.
• Debugging system performance bottlenecks will be a key responsibility. You will meticulously analyze the entire stack, from slow database queries and S3 object storage latency to misconfigured Nginx or load balancers, and even application-level issues within the Rails framework, to ensure optimal performance.
• You will design, build, and maintain sophisticated CI/CD pipelines. These pipelines will automate our build, test, and deployment processes, aiming for minimal downtime and maximum efficiency, enabling rapid and reliable releases.
• Collaboration with our development teams is crucial. You will work closely with them to enhance observability and instrumentation, ensuring that comprehensive metrics, tracing, and logging are in place to facilitate rapid diagnosis and resolution of any issues.
• Proactive infrastructure capacity planning will be part of your remit. You will forecast resource needs and optimize their allocation to ensure our infrastructure is both cost-effective and performant as our customer base continues to grow.
• You will be on the front lines responding to incidents and outages. This involves participating actively in root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence, thereby enhancing system stability.
• Maintaining and optimizing our Kubernetes clusters is a significant responsibility. This includes ensuring proper resource allocation, configuring autoscaling, and managing workload distribution to maximize efficiency and reliability.
• You will work closely with our PostgreSQL databases, focusing on tuning queries for performance, configuring robust backup solutions, managing replication strategies, and ensuring overall database reliability and integrity.
• Managing and monitoring our cloud storage systems, such as S3 and EBS, will be essential. Your focus will be on ensuring secure, performant, and cost-effective utilization of these critical resources.
• Developing and implementing comprehensive disaster recovery strategies will be a key objective. This includes regular testing of backups and failover processes to guarantee business continuity.
• Continuous learning and application of new knowledge are highly valued. You will stay current with the latest DevOps, Rails, AWS, and Kubernetes practices and technologies, proactively applying them to continuously improve our system's reliability, security, and overall performance.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps engineering role.
• Advanced expertise in AWS (EC2, Aurora, S3), PostgreSQL, Puma, NGINX, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails applications and the Ruby programming language.
• Extensive knowledge of Ubuntu operating system.
• Proficiency with Git or Mercurial, and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or GitLab Pipelines.
