đź“‹ Description
- • Join Fundraise Up as a DevOps Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) and play a pivotal role in ensuring the scalability, security, and unwavering reliability of our global fundraising platform. This is a unique opportunity to operate as a generalist, impacting our entire infrastructure from server provisioning and CI/CD pipelines to observability and database management. Your contributions will directly support nonprofits worldwide, enabling them to raise more funds efficiently. At Fundraise Up, we understand that even brief periods of downtime can have significant financial implications for the causes we serve, making your role critically important.
- • You will be instrumental in managing and maintaining our server infrastructure, encompassing both Virtual Machines (VMs) and bare metal. This involves deep engagement at the operating system level, including configuration, ongoing maintenance, and proactive troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and stability.
- • A core aspect of your responsibility will be the automation of infrastructure management and routine operational tasks. You will leverage tools like Ansible for configuration management and develop custom scripts using Bash and Python to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance efficiency across the board.
- • You will be tasked with building, maintaining, and supporting our complex CI/CD pipelines. We rely on scripted pipelines within Jenkins to facilitate rapid and reliable software delivery. Your expertise will be crucial in optimizing these pipelines for speed, stability, and security, ensuring our development teams can deploy code with confidence.
- • Developing and supporting our monitoring and observability stack is a key function. This includes working with Prometheus-style metrics, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana for visualization, and Graylog for log management. Your efforts will ensure we have comprehensive visibility into system performance, enabling us to detect and address issues proactively.
- • You will gain hands-on experience with our diverse data systems, including ClickHouse and MongoDB. Your focus will be on ensuring their operational stability, performance, and reliability, which are fundamental to our platform's data processing and analytics capabilities.
- • A significant part of your role will involve investigating and resolving complex issues that span across the Linux operating system, networking layers, and application stacks. This requires a systematic approach to problem-solving and a deep understanding of how different components interact.
- • You will collaborate closely with our engineering teams across various disciplines. This cross-functional collaboration is essential for sharing knowledge, improving system reliability, and driving automation initiatives throughout the organization.
- • Taking ownership of production systems is a fundamental expectation. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, predictability, and overall health of our live environment, acting as a key guardian of our platform's performance.
- • Fundraise Up is a global fundraising platform that empowers nonprofits to raise funds seamlessly and efficiently. Our technology processes millions of dollars in donations monthly, serving leading organizations like UNICEF and the Alzheimer's Association. We pride ourselves on innovation that drives results, focusing on conversion rates, global payment support, and accessibility.
- • Our product ecosystem is large and complex, featuring a modern checkout experience, customizable widgets, donor and partner portals, admin tools, and internal applications. The backend is built with Node.js (Koa, NestJS) and MongoDB, while the frontend utilizes Webpack, Vue.js, and React, with a strong emphasis on TypeScript. For high-throughput messaging, we employ Kafka and Bull (Redis), with ClickHouse for analytics and Elasticsearch for search.
- • You will be joining a distributed team of over 120 product professionals, including more than 35 engineers, primarily based across Europe. We foster a culture of deep technical curiosity, knowledge sharing, and a product-first mindset. With many developers possessing 5-10+ years of experience, you'll be part of a team that values quality, mentorship, and mutual respect. Our bi-weekly engineering forums provide a platform for sharing learnings and celebrating technical achievements.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a product with a tangible, positive impact, supporting the vital work of nonprofit organizations worldwide. You will be empowered to make significant contributions to a growing, globally recognized platform.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, SRE, or Linux Systems Administrator.
- • Strong proficiency in Linux (Ubuntu) administration, including core CLI troubleshooting tools.
- • Solid experience with configuration management tools, with a preference for Ansible.
- • Proven experience building and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins experience is a significant advantage).
- • Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls like iptables).
- • Experience with monitoring and observability principles (Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics stack preferred).
- • Proficiency in scripting with Bash or Python.
- • High sense of ownership, responsibility, and attention to detail.
🏖️ Benefits
- • 31 days of paid time off annually.
- • 100% paid telemedicine plan for comprehensive health coverage.
- • Home Office Setup Assistance: support for purchasing essential furniture and equipment (office chair, desk, monitor) to create an ergonomic workspace.
- • English learning courses to enhance communication skills.
- • Support for relevant professional education and development.
- • Access to gym or swimming pool facilities.
- • Co-working space membership options.
- • Fully remote working arrangement.
