đź“‹ Description
- • Join Fundraise Up as a DevOps Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) and play a pivotal role in ensuring the scalability, security, and exceptional reliability of our global fundraising platform. This is a unique opportunity for a versatile engineer to impact our entire infrastructure, working across the full stack from server provisioning and CI/CD pipelines to observability and database management. At Fundraise Up, we empower nonprofits worldwide to raise more funds, and even minutes of downtime can have a significant impact on the causes we support. Your mission is critical to our success.
- • As a generalist, you will not be siloed into a single area. Instead, you will have the autonomy and responsibility to work across diverse aspects of our technology. This includes hands-on work with servers, both virtual machines and bare metal, at the operating system level and below. You will be responsible for their configuration, ongoing maintenance, and proactive troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and stability.
- • Automation is at the heart of our operations. You will leverage tools like Ansible and custom scripting in Bash and Python to automate infrastructure deployment, configuration management, and routine operational tasks. This focus on automation is key to improving efficiency, reducing manual errors, and enabling our team to scale effectively.
- • You will be instrumental in building, maintaining, and supporting our complex CI/CD pipelines. We utilize scripted pipelines in Jenkins, and your expertise will be crucial in ensuring smooth, reliable, and efficient software delivery. This involves optimizing build, test, and deployment processes to support our rapid development cycles.
- • Developing and supporting our monitoring and observability stack is a core responsibility. You will work with Prometheus-style metrics, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, and Graylog to build a comprehensive view of our system's health and performance. Proactive identification and resolution of potential issues before they impact users are paramount.
- • You will gain deep experience working with our diverse databases and data systems, including ClickHouse and MongoDB. Your focus will be on ensuring their monitoring, operational stability, and performance, contributing to the overall health of our data infrastructure.
- • A significant part of your role will involve investigating and resolving complex issues that span across Linux operating systems, networking configurations, and application layers. This requires a strong analytical mindset and the ability to quickly diagnose and fix problems in a production environment.
- • Collaboration is key to our success. You will work closely with engineers across various teams to enhance system reliability, implement new automation solutions, and share best practices. Your ability to communicate technical concepts effectively and contribute to a shared understanding of our infrastructure will be highly valued.
- • You will take ownership of production systems, ensuring their stability and predictability in day-to-day operations. This includes responding to incidents, performing root cause analysis, and implementing preventative measures to minimize future disruptions. We foster a culture where engineers feel empowered to own their work and drive improvements.
- • Fundraise Up is a global fundraising platform trusted by leading nonprofits like UNICEF and the Alzheimer's Association. Our technology powers tens of millions of dollars in donations monthly, focusing on innovation that drives results: faster load times, higher conversion rates, global payment support, and accessibility-first design. We are building a large and complex product ecosystem, including modern checkout experiences, customizable widgets, donor portals, admin tools, and internal applications.
- • Our technology stack is modern and robust, featuring Node.js (Koa, NestJS) and MongoDB for the backend, with Webpack, Vue.js, and React for the frontend, predominantly in TypeScript. We handle high-throughput messaging with Kafka and background processing with Bull (Redis). Analytics data resides in ClickHouse, and Elasticsearch powers our search capabilities.
- • You will be joining a distributed team of over 120 product professionals, including more than 35 engineers, primarily based across Europe. Many of our developers bring 5-10+ years of experience, and we cultivate a culture of deep technical curiosity, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning. Despite our scale, we operate with the focus and agility of a small team, where every task is important and every voice is heard. We value thoughtful collaboration, strong engineering practices, and a product mindset. Bi-weekly engineering forums provide a platform to share learnings and celebrate technical achievements, ensuring a supportive environment where quality, mentorship, and mutual respect are prioritized.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, SRE, or Linux Systems Administrator.
- • Strong foundation in Linux (Ubuntu), including proficiency with core CLI troubleshooting tools.
- • Solid experience with configuration management tools, particularly Ansible.
- • Experience working with servers (VMs and/or bare metal), including setup and troubleshooting at the OS level.
- • Proficiency in building and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins experience is a major plus).
- • Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and firewall configuration (iptables).
- • Experience with monitoring and observability principles (Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics stack preferred).
- • Experience working with Git.
- • Scripting ability in Bash or Python.
- • High sense of ownership, responsibility, and attention to detail; proactive and reliable.
🏖️ Benefits
- • 31 days off per year.
- • 100% paid telemedicine plan.
- • Home Office Setup Assistance: support for purchasing furniture (office chair, desk, monitor) and other workspace items.
- • English learning courses.
- • Relevant professional education and training.
- • Gym or swimming pool membership.
- • Co-working space access.
- • Fully remote working arrangement.
