- • Lead a team of DevSecOps engineers to build, scale, and maintain a "Security-as-Code" ecosystem that empowers development teams to ship software faster and more securely.
- • Define and own the multi-quarter DevSecOps roadmap, ensuring alignment with broader business and engineering goals across Deel’s global infrastructure.
- • Mentor, coach, and conduct performance reviews for DevSecOps engineers, fostering career development and a high-performance culture.
- • Act as the primary point of contact for Engineering and Product leads to embed security requirements into the Product Discovery phase.
- • Implement organizational security guardrails using Policy-as-Code tools such as OPA (Open Policy Agent) or Kyverno to automate compliance across all environments.
- • Oversee the design and hardening of secure cloud architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP, with emphasis on Zero Trust networking and identity-driven access controls.
- • Evaluate, procure, and manage third-party security vendors and tools including Snyk, Wiz, and Cloudflare, ensuring optimal technical fit and ROI.
- • Define and track KPIs including Mean Time to Remediate (MTTR), vulnerability burn-down rates, and false-positive ratios to measure security program effectiveness.
- • Serve as the technical escalation point for high-severity security incidents and lead blameless post-mortems to drive systemic improvements.
- • Automate security workflows using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and OpenTofu, and CI/CD platforms including GitHub Actions and GitLab CI.
- • Implement and tune SAST, DAST, SCA, and secret management solutions (e.g., HashiCorp Vault) at scale across Deel’s cloud-native environments.
- • Build custom internal security tooling and integrations using Python, Go, or TypeScript to address unique operational needs.
- • Ensure Kubernetes clusters are secured through RBAC, Network Policies, and Admission Controllers in alignment with industry best practices.
- • Translate complex technical security risks into clear business impact for executive stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
- • Balance security rigor with business velocity by applying pragmatic security practices that enable innovation without compromising compliance.
- • Collaborate across global engineering teams to standardize security patterns and reduce friction in development workflows.
- • Ensure security practices scale with Deel’s growth, supporting over 150 countries and millions of workers on its platform.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years in Security, DevOps, or Infrastructure roles
- • 2+ years in a leadership capacity (Team Lead, Tech Lead, or Engineering Manager)
- • Proven track record of scaling security practices in a cloud-native, high-growth environment
- • Expert knowledge of Terraform/OpenTofu, Ansible, and CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
- • Deep understanding of Kubernetes security (RBAC, Network Policies, Admission Controllers) and cloud provider security services (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- • Proficiency in Python, Go, or TypeScript to build custom internal security tooling and integrations
