  • • Perform comprehensive preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on Sysco’s fleet of tractors, trailers, converter dollies, refrigeration units (Reefer), lift-gates, and light-duty vehicles to ensure safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • • Conduct FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all company-owned equipment in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including mandated inspection frequencies.
  • • Diagnose and repair complex malfunctions across all vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, clutches, drive-lines, differentials, steering and suspension, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust systems (including regeneration), intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems, and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • • Perform specialized maintenance and repair on refrigeration units (Reefer), including adherence to EPA Section 608 (Core & Type II) and 609 HVAC & Refrigeration standards.
  • • Timely address and resolve all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) write-ups to minimize vehicle downtime and maintain operational compliance.
  • • Utilize computer-based diagnostic software for OEM and component manufacturer systems to accurately identify and resolve technical issues.
  • • Document all work performed on official work orders following company procedures and regulatory documentation standards.
  • • Mentor and train Fleet Technician I and II staff to develop their skills and prepare them for increased responsibility.
  • • Assume moderate supervisory responsibilities when Fleet Manager or Fleet Supervisors are unavailable.
  • • Perform electrical repairs, including testing with multimeters and working with DC (distribution center) low-voltage systems and electric motors.
  • • Complete welding and cutting tasks using gas, electric, MIG, and TIG methods as needed for fleet equipment repairs.
  • • Maintain proficiency in all DOT (FMCSA) regulations and apply them to daily maintenance and inspection activities.
  • • Operate and maintain personal tools; diagnostic equipment and major tools are provided by Sysco.
  • • Work non-traditional shifts: Sunday through Wednesday, 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM, with a $2 per hour shift differential based on start time.
  • • Work in varied conditions including outdoors, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and around moving mechanical parts.
  • • Lift and move up to 100 pounds occasionally and routinely handle tools and equipment requiring fine hand and finger dexterity.
  • • Maintain close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision with the ability to adjust focus for precise mechanical work.
  • • Adhere to OSHA and environmental safety regulations while performing all duties.
  • • Participate in occasional training or business needs travel to other operating companies or corporate offices.
