- • Lead the strategic vision for Grubhub’s brand by transforming complex consumer, cultural, and market data into high-conviction narratives that guide organizational decision-making and drive long-term brand equity.
- • Architect and deliver narrative-driven presentations with "blank-slide fluency," designing visually compelling, logically sound, and story-driven decks from scratch without reliance on templates to influence C-suite and cross-functional leadership.
- • Serve as the Strategic Conscience for Growth and Creative teams, proactively infusing consumer insights and brand truths into every initiative to ensure tactical execution aligns with foundational brand positioning and customer resonance.
- • Design and own the annual research agenda, prioritizing high-impact workstreams that close critical knowledge gaps before they become organizational bottlenecks and align with company-wide business objectives.
- • Build and manage a world-class roster of external research partners, evaluating vendor performance, ensuring methodological rigor, and optimizing ROI across diverse research modalities including ethnography, behavioral science, and brand tracking.
- • Establish and maintain a consistent rhythm of executive touchpoints through curated KPI dashboards and summaries that track brand health, consumer sentiment, and alignment with company priorities.
- • Proactively curate board-level intelligence for Board meetings and company Town Halls, delivering not just data but strategic interpretation and nuanced insight that anchors the organization’s most critical narratives.
- • Drive brand architecture and positioning by evolving brand frameworks from static documents into living filters that inform every customer touchpoint and operational decision.
- • Apply theoretical depth in behavioral science, semiotics, and segmentation to uncover "human truths" hidden within disparate data streams and translate them into actionable brand strategies.
- • Maintain executive presence with authority to influence VP- and C-suite stakeholders, seamlessly transitioning between deep-dive methodology discussions and high-level business strategy conversations.
- • Ensure strategic integrity across all initiatives by preventing short-term wins from eroding long-term brand value, maintaining a disciplined focus on consumer relevance and authentic connection.
- • Champion a builder mindset through exceptional presentation craft, creating original, persuasive storytelling artifacts that move teams and decisions forward without depending on pre-existing formats or conventions.
- • Operate within a hybrid model requiring three days per week in the office (New York City, Chicago, or Denver), with flexibility to work up to five days in person to foster collaboration and connection.
🎯 Requirements
- • 12+ years of proven leadership in brand planning or strategic insights, with experience in high-caliber agencies and fast-paced tech/startup environments
- • Proven ability to synthesize insights from disparate data streams and complex methodologies to uncover hidden "human truths"
- • Demonstrated excellence in presentation craft—architecting visually compelling, logically sound, and narratively driven decks without templates
- • Executive presence and authority to influence C-suite and VP-level stakeholders
- • Proven experience in defining and evangelizing brand frameworks that act as living filters across customer touchpoints
- • Expertise in brand tracking, segmentation, and application of behavioral science and semiotics to brand strategy
