• • As the Director, you will be instrumental in guiding the strategic direction of our research team, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources towards clinical trials that not only advance scientific understanding but also directly support Virta's business objectives. You will lead and nurture a team of highly experienced clinical investigators, who collectively possess decades of expertise in developing, implementing, and publishing pivotal clinical trial data within the metabolic health domain. Furthermore, you will oversee analyses of our registry data, presenting and publishing key findings to a broad audience.
• • A critical aspect of this role involves building and fostering a robust network of key investigators and academic collaborators who are eager to partner with Virta researchers on trials that amplify the impact and reach of the Virta program. You will strategically align Virta’s scientific endeavors with prominent national and international conferences, meetings, and symposia, ensuring our groundbreaking work is showcased to the global scientific community.
• • You will be the scientific voice of Virta, representing our research at scientific meetings, in crucial discussions with current and prospective clients, and in internal strategic sessions. Your ability to articulate complex scientific findings with clarity and authority will be key to building and strengthening the Virta brand.
• • As an active member of the Virta Medical Group leadership team, you will champion the scientific perspective, driving evidence-based clinical initiatives that enhance the quality and efficiency of care delivered to thousands of patients managing metabolic health challenges. This includes leading and collaborating on projects that push the boundaries of what's possible in metabolic care.
• • A significant focus of this role is the development and advancement of a comprehensive Real World Evidence (RWE) program. You will leverage diverse data sources, both internal to Virta and external (e.g., health plan claims, employer data), to generate robust evidence demonstrating Virta's impact on clinical and economic outcomes. This requires close collaboration with our data science team and external data stewards.
• • You will play a pivotal role in integrating evidence across Virta's operations, influencing everything from clinical care protocols and coaching strategies to product development. Your insights will ensure that our interventions are grounded in rigorous scientific validation and continuously improved based on real-world data.
• • Collaboration with our marketing and sales teams is essential. You will work closely with them to develop and execute communication strategies that effectively leverage Virta’s growing evidence base to reach new audiences and solidify our market leadership.
• • This role demands a unique blend of strategic leadership and hands-on analytical capability. While you will lead a team of researchers, you are also expected to be comfortable writing SQL queries, running regression analyses, and diving deep into data to uncover critical insights. This dual capability ensures that the research strategy is not only visionary but also grounded in practical execution and data-driven decision-making.
• • The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of clinical trial design, experience with Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and research compliance, and a proven ability to translate scientific findings into market-relevant insights. • • You will be responsible for developing and implementing a long-term strategy for Virta’s scientific program, encompassing engagement with key scientific conferences, associations, and symposia. This strategic planning will ensure Virta remains at the forefront of scientific discourse and innovation in metabolic health. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with the marketing team to ensure Virta’s evidence base is effectively disseminated to a wide range of stakeholders, including clinicians, payers, employers, and patients.
• • A critical component of your role will be to lead and implement a coordinated Key Opinion Leader (KOL) strategy in close collaboration with the commercial team. This involves identifying, engaging, and nurturing relationships with influential figures in the field to champion Virta's approach and research findings, thereby enhancing our scientific reputation and market penetration.
• • You will also be responsible for developing and advancing a comprehensive real-world evidence (RWE) program, meticulously leveraging diverse data sources both within and outside of Virta. This includes data warehouses, health plan claims data, and employer datasets, all aimed at rigorously demonstrating the clinical and economic impact of Virta’s innovative care model. This requires a strong understanding of data integration, analysis, and interpretation in the context of health outcomes research.
• • Your role will involve working cross-functionally to embed evidence into Virta’s core processes, from the delivery of clinical care and patient coaching to the development of new products and services. This ensures that Virta’s offerings are not only innovative but also scientifically validated and continuously optimized based on real-world performance data.
• • Finally, you will represent Virta’s science with poise and authority, whether presenting at scientific meetings, engaging with clients and sales prospects, or participating in internal leadership discussions.
