• • As the Director of Engineering Enablement and AI Tooling at Vida Health Inc., you will spearhead the creation and evolution of a critical function designed to dramatically accelerate the productivity and effectiveness of our entire engineering organization. This pivotal role involves architecting and implementing AI-augmented development practices, establishing robust shared tooling, and fortifying the core platform infrastructure that underpins reliability, security, and scalability across Vida's technological landscape.
• • Your primary mandate will be to establish AI as a strategic organizational capability, transcending the notion of isolated tools. This entails the meticulous development of comprehensive guardrails, sophisticated knowledge systems, and streamlined, "paved-road" workflows. These frameworks will empower our 25-strong engineering team to deliver higher quality code at an accelerated pace, all while rigorously adhering to the stringent compliance and clinical data constraints inherent to the healthcare industry.
• • You will report directly to the VP of Engineering, collaborating closely with engineering leads from Product, Data/AI, and Clinical teams. Together, you will collaboratively define the future of AI-augmented development at Vida, ensuring its seamless integration into our engineering culture and processes.
• • This role is instrumental in shaping the future of how engineers at Vida work. You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and integrating cutting-edge AI technologies and methodologies that enhance developer experience, improve code quality, and reduce time-to-market for new features and products.
• • Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining a centralized platform for AI tools and services, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning around AI within the engineering department, and establishing best practices for the ethical and secure use of AI in software development.
• • You will also play a crucial role in defining the technical strategy for AI enablement, ensuring alignment with Vida's overall business objectives and product roadmap. This includes assessing the impact of AI on our development lifecycle, from ideation and design to testing and deployment.
• • Furthermore, you will champion the adoption of AI-powered tools for tasks such as code generation, automated testing, performance optimization, and security vulnerability detection. Your leadership will ensure that these tools are not only adopted but also effectively utilized to their full potential.
• • Building and nurturing a community of practice around AI within the engineering team will be essential. This involves organizing workshops, sharing knowledge, and encouraging cross-functional collaboration to leverage AI expertise across different teams.
