- • Own financial planning and analysis by building and maintaining Stable’s operating model, including long-range forecasts, monthly rollovers, and scenario planning that directly inform company-wide investments, hiring, and growth decisions.
- • Lead budgeting and cash management processes to ensure spending aligns with strategic goals, hold cross-functional teams accountable to budget targets, and maintain visibility into cash runway to support sustainable scaling.
- • Design and implement scalable financial infrastructure, including internal controls, reporting systems, and automated processes that enable accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance as the company grows.
- • Analyze unit economics and cost-to-serve for physical operations, identifying inefficiencies in mail handling, logistics, and vendor performance to improve margins and operational efficiency.
- • Negotiate key vendor contracts and supplier agreements in partnership with department leads to secure favorable terms, reduce costs, and optimize spend across critical operational areas.
- • Partner directly with the CEO and executive leadership team to provide data-driven insights on ROI, strategic tradeoffs, and financial implications of business decisions.
- • Prepare and present financial materials for board meetings and fundraising rounds, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with company milestones and investor expectations.
- • Drive financial visibility and accountability across the organization by defining, tracking, and communicating KPIs that measure performance and guide operational improvements.
- • Build and lead the finance function from the ground up as one of the first hires, transitioning from hands-on execution to eventually managing a growing finance team as Stable scales.
- • Support compliance with IRS, state, and vendor requirements related to business entity management, ensuring financial systems meet regulatory standards for thousands of client companies.
- • Translate complex operational data from physical mail and logistics systems into clear financial insights that inform product development, customer pricing, and market expansion strategies.
- • Work closely with engineering and operations teams to understand system capabilities and constraints, ensuring financial models accurately reflect real-world business dynamics.
- • Travel quarterly to company offsites to collaborate in person with leadership and cross-functional teams, contributing to strategic alignment and culture-building.
- • Maintain a deep understanding of Stable’s business model — providing financial oversight for a SaaS platform that manages physical mail and business addresses for 15,000+ companies across diverse industries.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of finance experience at venture-backed startups
- • Hands-on experience with complex COGS and physical or operational businesses
- • Demonstrated strength in FP&A and strategic finance
- • Strong SQL and Excel skills
- • Strong written and verbal communication skills
- • Must be willing to travel at least quarterly for company offsites
