- • As the Director of People and Operations at Civitech, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our organization by leading critical People, HR, and Operational functions. This is a strategic, cross-functional role that demands both visionary thinking and hands-on execution, ensuring the strength and efficiency of our internal infrastructure as we work to build a fairer and more equitable democracy. You will be a key partner to the COO and senior leadership, driving initiatives that enhance talent development, foster employee engagement, streamline operational project management, and ensure robust compliance across the company.
- • In the realm of Human Resources, you will spearhead Talent Acquisition, working collaboratively with Civitech Leadership to develop and implement comprehensive quarterly and annual hiring plans. This includes leading all aspects of the hiring process, from sourcing and interviewing to onboarding, ensuring we attract and retain top talent that aligns with our mission and values. You will also take ownership of Total Rewards, playing a vital role in managing the company-wide compensation structure, including salary title level matrices, salary setting, and equity grants for new hires. Furthermore, you will be the primary administrator for all employee benefits, overseeing health insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), 401(k) plans, parental leave, and other related programs, ensuring our team feels supported and valued.
- • Your responsibilities extend to Talent Development, where you will lead and manage our employee feedback and performance management processes. This includes overseeing employee engagement initiatives like pulse surveys and annual surveys, managing performance reviews, and identifying opportunities for staff training and learning, potentially leveraging our Rippling LMS or developing new learning initiatives. A crucial aspect of this role is policy creation and enforcement, including handling employee relations with fairness and integrity, ensuring a positive and productive work environment for everyone.
- • On the Organizational Effectiveness front, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership to define, track, and achieve key performance goals and strategic initiatives. You will be responsible for establishing and refining systems that promote operational transparency and efficiency across the organization. This includes evaluating and implementing new software tools requested by staff to enhance productivity and collaboration. As a day-to-day administrator for core company systems such as Slack and Asana, you will manage tool usage norms, access controls, and ensure seamless integration and functionality.
- • In Operations Leadership, you will partner directly with the COO to guide the Operations team. This involves leading the department, meticulously managing the team's project backlog and priorities, and responding proactively to employee feedback by prioritizing and executing relevant process improvements. Your efforts will directly contribute to building more efficient processes and systems that empower the entire organization to achieve its mission.
- • A significant part of your role will involve External Partnership Management. You will serve as Civitech's primary liaison with our external IT security partner, overseeing company-wide systems and security assessments. You will also manage our relationship with our external HR advisory firm, acting as the end-to-end owner for all HR projects and advisory needs. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing vendor relationships and renewals across key platforms, ensuring we have the best tools and support to operate effectively.

You should possess proven leadership experience, a deep understanding of HR compliance and best practices, and a comfort with a variety of SaaS tools. 🎯 Requirements
- • 15+ years of experience in operations, HR, or general management roles, preferably in fast-paced or mission-driven environments.
- • Proven leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional projects.
- • Strong understanding of HR compliance, tools, and processes.
- • Comfort with SaaS tools and vendor management (e.g., Rippling, Lever, GSuite, Slack).
- • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
