- • The National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF) seeks a motivated and intellectually curious Associate Policy Analyst Intern to join their esteemed team for the Summer 2026 cohort of the Koch Internship Program (KIP). This 12-week paid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public policy research and advocacy, focusing specifically on critical budget and tax reform issues. As an intern, you will play a vital role in NTUF's mission to educate Americans about the impact of taxes, government spending, and regulations, empowering them to engage effectively in policy debates and hold elected officials accountable.
- • Your primary responsibilities will involve supporting NTUF's research and outreach initiatives. This includes meticulously tracking current policy proposals and developments within the realms of budget and tax reform. You will be instrumental in synthesizing complex information into accessible formats, contributing to the creation of various publications such as blog posts, issue briefs, and opinion editorials (op-eds). This requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to translate intricate policy concepts into clear, persuasive language.
- • The internship is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience. You will delve into NTUF's incisive research methodologies, contributing to the analysis of a wide array of policy areas. While the focus is on budget and tax reform, your work may also touch upon related areas like technology policy, interstate commerce, legislative scoring, and trade, reflecting NTUF's broad policy scope. Furthermore, you will gain exposure to NTUF's newly launched public interest litigation project, offering insights into how policy advocacy extends into the judicial arena.
- • Beyond the direct research and writing tasks, you will be an active participant in NTUF's outreach efforts. This involves understanding how to effectively communicate research findings to diverse audiences, including policymakers, the media, and the general public. You will learn to craft compelling narratives that highlight the practical implications of fiscal policies on American taxpayers.
- • As part of the broader Koch Internship Program, you will benefit from a structured professional development curriculum. This includes a 2-day, in-person summit hosted by Stand Together Fellowships at their Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, providing an immersive experience in the principles of a free society, including individual liberty, limited government, free markets, and the rule of law. You will also engage with the Stand Together community's vision for change and learn how a principled approach to problem-solving can address society's most pressing challenges. Virtual programming, held every other Thursday, will further enhance your understanding of these foundational concepts and offer pathways to build a career dedicated to advancing liberty and free society.
- • This internship is ideal for individuals passionate about public policy, economics, and the principles of fiscal responsibility. You will hone your research, analytical, and writing skills in a dynamic, non-partisan environment. The opportunity to contribute to impactful research that informs public discourse and influences policy decisions is a significant aspect of this role. You will work closely with experienced policy analysts, gaining valuable mentorship and practical insights into the policy-making process.
- • The role offers flexibility, with options for remote or onsite work in Washington, DC. This allows for a wider pool of talented individuals to participate, ensuring diverse perspectives contribute to NTUF's work. The internship duration is 12 weeks, providing ample time to make a meaningful contribution and develop a strong understanding of public policy analysis and advocacy. Successful completion of the internship will equip you with a robust portfolio of work and a deeper appreciation for the complexities of fiscal policy and its impact on individual freedom and economic prosperity.
- • Interns will receive a stipend from Stand Together Fellowships, either $7,500 for full-time (32 hours/week) or $5,500 for part-time (24 hours/week) commitment, making this a financially accessible opportunity to gain invaluable professional experience. This program is designed to foster the next generation of leaders committed to advancing free and prosperous societies through rigorous research and effective advocacy.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise policy-related content.
- • Demonstrated interest in public policy, particularly in areas of budget, tax reform, government spending, and regulation.
- • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in research and data analysis.
- • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines effectively.
- • Must be geographically located within the U.S. and authorized to work in the U.S. through the duration of the program.
- • Availability for virtual professional development training every other Thursday from 1-4:00 PM ET and the in-person summit in Arlington, VA, June 3-4, 2026.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Paid internship with a stipend of $7,500 (full-time) or $5,500 (part-time) from Stand Together Fellowships.
- • 12-week experiential learning program offering meaningful work experience in public policy.
- • Professional development opportunities, including a 2-day in-person summit and virtual programming focused on principles of a free society.
- • Opportunity to contribute to impactful research and policy analysis at a non-partisan research and education organization.
