📋 Description

• Own and scale the cloud infrastructure, security posture, and IT operations powering Clutch’s vertical SaaS platform used by 163 U.S. credit unions processing sensitive financial data under SOC 2 Type II, GLBA, and CCPA compliance.
• Lead a cross-functional team spanning Infrastructure, Security, and IT, currently including an Infrastructure Engineering Manager, security individual contributors, and IT support staff, with direct accountability for team structure, hiring, and performance.
• Conduct a full audit of infrastructure, security controls, vendor accounts, and IT operations within 3 months, identifying gaps and executing quick wins to strengthen platform resilience and compliance.
• Take full ownership of all vendor relationships and complete account transfers from the previous director, ensuring seamless continuity and operational stability.
• Establish and maintain direct working relationships with every engineering team (Lending, Foundations, Account Opening, HAL AI, Data), Finance, Legal, and Customer Success to align platform priorities with business needs.
• Assess and enhance incident response protocols and cybersecurity monitoring using Datadog SIEM and Cloudflare, improving detection, response times, and threat mitigation.
• Drive vendor rationalization across 30+ tools, owning decisions to eliminate redundancy and achieve $229K in immediate cost reductions with $1.2M under further evaluation.
• Optimize AWS cloud infrastructure costs and performance across multiple accounts using ECS Fargate and Aurora PostgreSQL, ensuring scalable, efficient resource allocation.
• Improve sandbox and environment management for credit union onboarding, delivering secure, isolated, and reliable test environments that meet strict regulatory requirements.
• Define and execute a hiring plan to fully staff the Platform Engineering organization with clear ownership boundaries for Infrastructure, Security, and IT functions.
• Advance cloud security and data protection strategies, including enhancements to per-partner data segregation and encryption using AES-256 and FIPS 140-2 Level 3 standards.
• Lead a company-wide security awareness program to embed a security-first culture across all engineering teams and functional departments.
• Drive automation and tooling initiatives that measurably reduce toil for the broader engineering organization, increasing developer velocity and system reliability.
• Own and present the 12-month platform roadmap, including infrastructure scaling strategy, compliance roadmap, and technology investment priorities to executive leadership.
• Ensure all IT operations meet defined SLAs for endpoint management, helpdesk response, and user support, maintaining high availability and user satisfaction.
• Work with Legal and Compliance to prepare for and execute the next SOC 2 Type II audit cycle, maintaining continuous adherence to financial services regulatory standards.
• Operate with high autonomy, delivering completed work and decisive recommendations rather than escalating problems—aligned with Clutch’s "You Build It, You Run It" principle.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, and/or security leadership, preferably in B2B SaaS or fintech
• Proven leadership experience managing infrastructure, security, and IT teams in a fast-paced environment
• Deep knowledge of AWS (ECS Fargate, Aurora PostgreSQL, IAM, KMS, S3, VPC) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Terragrunt)
• Strong understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards: SOC 2 Type II, GLBA, CCPA, and ideally PCI DSS
• Experience owning vendor management and budget optimization at scale
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to collaborate with engineering, finance, legal, and customer-facing teams
