Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Lead the end-to-end creation and scaling of a Trust & Safety function from the ground up for a fast-growing peer-to-peer marketplace, establishing team structure, workflows, tooling, and strategic roadmap
- • Own fraud prevention, identity verification, investigations, and content moderation as core pillars of platform integrity, ensuring measurable reductions in fraud losses and platform risk within the first year
- • Define and track KPIs that directly impact business outcomes, translating operational data into executive-level reporting to secure budget, resources, and cross-functional alignment
- • Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to design, prioritize, and ship fraud detection, identity verification, and moderation tools that deliver tangible results—not just feature releases
- • Lead high-severity incident response protocols, acting as the central point of coordination between Legal, Engineering, and Operations to ensure investigations drive policy and product changes
- • Evaluate, select, and manage third-party vendor relationships for fraud and identity verification tools, making clear build-vs-buy decisions based on scalability, cost, and effectiveness
- • Establish and maintain enforceable platform policies in close collaboration with Legal, ensuring compliance, audit readiness, and consistent application across all user interactions
- • Build a data-driven Trust & Safety culture by replacing tribal knowledge with documented workflows, automation, and standardized processes that scale with platform growth
- • Translate marketplace-specific threats into actionable intelligence, anticipating emerging risks before they impact users or revenue
- • Own the strategic vision for Trust & Safety as a proactive, revenue-protecting function—not a reactive cost center—ensuring it has equal standing in executive decision-making
- • Implement automation and AI-driven workflows to increase investigation efficiency, reduce manual workload, and improve response times across fraud and moderation operations
- • Maintain deep familiarity with the company’s product ecosystem, understanding how user behavior, transaction flows, and platform features create unique fraud and safety vectors
- • Communicate complex operational challenges and successes clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including the COO and other C-suite leaders
- • Ensure all Trust & Safety initiatives are aligned with the company’s mission to provide safe, reliable, and trustworthy experiences for hundreds of thousands of property owners and renters
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years in Trust & Safety, Fraud Operations, or Risk Management
- • 5+ years leading people, including managing other managers or senior individual contributors
- • Proven track record of building or scaling a Trust & Safety, fraud, or marketplace-integrity function from scratch, not just maintaining an existing one
- • Demonstrated ability to turn operational problems into scalable systems and influence cross-functional product and engineering roadmaps
- • Experience reporting metrics and outcomes directly to executive stakeholders
- • Background in a high-growth marketplace, platform, or consumer internet business
🏖️ Benefits
- • Remote work with flexibility within Colombia
- • Direct reporting line to the COO with strategic influence over company direction
- • Opportunity to build a foundational function in a profitable, category-leading marketplace
- • Access to industry-leading fraud and identity verification tools including Jumio, IPQS, and others
