📋 Description

• Lead the strategy, design, and development of Horizon3.ai’s NodeZero™ Pentest Platform, overseeing three core engineering teams: Execution Engine, Orchestration, and Pentest Data Platform.
• Set technical and product direction for autonomous pentest execution and analysis across distributed internal, external, cloud, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Partner with Product, Proactive Offense, and GTM teams to define platform requirements and translate architectural innovations into production-ready features that scale across enterprise customers.
• Drive platform development from proof-of-concept through production launch, ensuring reliability, performance, and operational excellence for large-scale SaaS infrastructure.
• Stay hands-on in guiding architectural decisions around distributed systems, data models, orchestration patterns, and data pipeline design for pentest execution and result processing.
• Mentor and scale engineering managers and technical leads across infrastructure, platform automation, and data engineering teams.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, systems thinking, and operational excellence that bridges infrastructure and product perspectives.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and GTM to align platform roadmap with business priorities and offensive capabilities.
• Ensure scalable, reliable delivery of pentest execution infrastructure that enables rapid innovation in attack content and customer value.
• Design and maintain systems that run at scale using container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
• Build and optimize data pipelines for ETL/ELT, event processing, and analytics data modeling using stream or batch processing frameworks.
• Apply deep expertise in distributed systems design, including service architecture, consensus protocols, and reliability patterns for large-scale systems.
• Leverage proficiency in modern object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Go, C++, or C# to build and maintain large-scale platform systems.
• Implement CI/CD practices for rapid, reliable deployments and ensure robust monitoring, observability, logging, tracing, and incident response for production systems.
• Design and manage database schemas and query patterns for operational and analytical workloads using PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Neo4j, or similar databases.
• Apply strong operational expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), including networking, compute, storage, and managed services.
• Maintain deep familiarity with network protocols, multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS), and enterprise technology stacks.
• Apply understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and familiarity with penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, or automated attack workflows.
• Contribute to building or scaling production penetration testing, vulnerability management, or security assessment platforms.
• Support the growth of a diverse, inclusive engineering team aligned with Horizon3.ai’s values of respect, collaboration, ownership, and results.
• Travel up to 10–15% to support team alignment, customer engagements, or company events.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience leading and scaling engineering teams in platform or infrastructure development within a fast-paced startup or growth-stage environment.
• Strong technical background in distributed systems, platform architecture, and large-scale automation, with hands-on experience in system design, orchestration, data pipelines, or infrastructure automation.
• Demonstrated success taking platform or infrastructure products from concept to market, including driving architectural decisions, POCs, and production launches at scale.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, containerization, orchestration frameworks, data processing pipelines, and large-scale SaaS infrastructure.
• Experience managing engineering managers and aligning cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, and GTM.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes), workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Temporal), and data pipeline design.
