• • As a Product Counsel, you will be embedded directly within Coinbase's Product teams, specifically supporting the Financial Services & Loyalty initiatives within the Consumer business unit.
• • Your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive legal, business, and strategic advice throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial ideation and development through to launch, ongoing operation, and eventual sunsetting of products.
• • You will proactively identify potential legal and regulatory issues, looking around corners to creatively solve complex problems for product teams as they plan, build, and execute their roadmaps.
• • A critical aspect of this role involves ensuring that all products and services comply with applicable U.S. and international laws and regulations.
• • This compliance work will be conducted in close collaboration with colleagues across the Legal department, including privacy, regulatory, and international counsel, as well as the Compliance team.
• • You will act as a thought leader, guiding product development and implementation with a deep understanding of the legal landscape.
• • When issues arise that fall outside your specific expertise, you will be responsible for driving their resolution by effectively partnering with other members of the Coinbase legal team and engaging external counsel as needed.
• • This role requires extensive cross-departmental collaboration, working closely with stakeholders such as Compliance, Communications, Finance, Tax, Security, Enterprise Risk Management, Data, Analytics, and Corporate Development.
• • You will be expected to respond promptly and effectively to a wide range of complex legal requests, coordinating closely with your Legal department colleagues to ensure the swift delivery of smart, practical, and actionable advice.
• • Operating in a fast-paced and demanding environment, you must be able to pivot quickly to meet the evolving needs of leadership and the business.
• • You will need to recognize priority initiatives and effectively manage your client relationships and your advisory capacity to scale your guidance appropriately, providing the right level of support for each specific request.
