📋 Description

• Lead the development and scaling of Couchbase’s AI platform capabilities, driving architectural decisions and operational excellence for enterprise-grade data infrastructure that powers AI workloads at scale.
• Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams focused on the intersection of distributed systems, databases, and AI, ensuring reliability, performance, and security standards are met while fostering innovation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Field, Support, Customer Success, and core infrastructure teams to deliver differentiated AI capabilities that align with customer needs and market demands.
• Own the end-to-end delivery of production-grade SaaS services for AI infrastructure, including vector search, RAG, embedding pipelines, LLM inference, and agent architectures, leveraging hands-on expertise in Go, Python, or Java.
• Champion a culture of technical excellence and inclusion by mentoring engineering managers and senior leaders, promoting diverse perspectives, and supporting equitable growth opportunities across the team.
• Contribute to Couchbase’s mission of simplifying modern application development through its cloud database platform Capella, helping organizations build premium customer experiences from cloud to edge with best-in-class price performance.

🎯 Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years leading multiple engineering teams.
• Strong background in distributed systems, databases, or large-scale cloud platforms, with hands-on familiarity in AI infrastructure concepts such as vector search, RAG, embedding pipelines, LLM and inference systems, and agent architectures.
• Experience building and operating production SaaS services at scale, with deep understanding of performance engineering, reliability, and cost optimization in cloud environments.
• Hands-on proficiency in Go, Python, or Java.
